SCOTTS VALLEY, CA: Mirantis, the pure-play OpenStack Company, has joined Catbird – a provider of software-security defined for virtual infrastructure – in its partner program and certifies Catbird Software suite for OpenStack.

In an interview with TalkingCloud.com Chris Tamblyn, Catbird's senior vice president of business development and product management says, “We believe enterprises will look to adopt OpenStack through distributions with value-added bundling like Mirantis. These are natural partners for us. We are going to be very focused in our customer targeting which will allow us to focus on product feature/functionality where it matters most to those committed to the platform.”

Catbird 6.0 which was announced recently adds security policy automation for OpenStack and also provides compliance automation and monitoring solution for private and hybrid cloud environments. It includes extensive configuration checks based on Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP).

Designed for software-defined infrastructure, Catbird’s platform provides monitoring and data analytics solution that enhance security and protect data on private clouds and in virtual data centers. Catbird Secure insight discovers all the assets in virtual fabric continuously, allows the grouping of these assets into logical Catbird TrustZones and enables flexible security policies across Catbird TrustZones. Catbird Security suite also detects and alerts on potential security incidents, initiates corrective enforcement actions, and provides instant compliance reporting for major standards and mandates.

“Catbird in effect allows movement of the perimeter inward, protecting each micro-segment defined in OpenStack, while also providing east/west traffic visibility and reporting you cannot get with traditional, perimeter-based security controls," says Ronen Kofman, VP of Product Management, Mirantis.
