Please provide us some insights on how Red Hat evolved over these years, and how is it shaping the developer experience in the industry?
Our organization shares a strategic relationship with RedHat that develops automation architecture for Positive Train Control (PTC) hosting business units. Herzog’s automation platform usesRedHat’s Infrastructure Suite as the foundation for our PTC Hosted Solution.Without Red Hat, launching this solution would have been a far more complex undertaking, and we would not have been able to onboard new customers as quickly.
What were the challenges while implementing this technology in your company?
The principal problems while dealing with the implementation of this technology in our company were time restrictions, complex data application,and scalability of the services as per the requirements of different customers. These major challenges allowed our company to opt for the use of Red Hat’s Infrastructure Suite, and scale the demands of potential customers with the help of automation and programming at the touch of a button.

Analyzing the before and after scenarios, what are the chief points considered when you implemented Red Hat in your organization?
It is easily perceived from the experiences we have had, that there has always been room for improvement with user-error, configuruation management,and lifecycle development. Thiscaters to the Red HatSuite of productson line and provides the ability to make changes efficiently and accurately.
What are the key differentiating factors that you would like to discuss with your industry peers regarding the implementation of this technology?
The seamless use of technology, simplicity, and control of the environment are the main factors that should be kept in mind while implementing Red Hat.The simplicity aspect becomes relevant as our company allows the unified dashboard to manage the system for the development automation of a customer’s environment.
From the time-saving standpoint, as discussed earlier, a system could take months to develop and build-up an infrastructure. In the present circumstance, with the implementation of virtualization and Red Hat, we can accelerate a deployment of a back office environment for a railroad. This factor not only saves time as the government has a federal mandate to implement PTC by the year 2020 but also that it adapts to changes and draws customers.
How did Red Hat guide you on the projects you were working on? Please share with us your valuable insights.
It is a federal mandate for PTC to overlay safety current dispatch systems for railroads and it is a requirement for all the railroads to be implemented with PTC by the year 2020. Our company operates and maintains different commuter railroads across the U.S. We realized that our company’s potential customers did not have any employee assistance or technology infrastructure at every location to set up complex systems. So, our company built its own private cloud, and partnered with Red Hat. Our company offers the ability to the railroads to connect with the environment in a private cloud and act as a gateway between railroads.
What are your nuggets of wisdom to your fellow associates on implementing Red Hat technologies in their firms?
We would recommend Red Hat to all our industry peers, as it has not only been an outstanding partner but has also offered some exceptional products and software suites. It is capable of managing complex systems,provide automation and scalability, make alterations within the system, and undergo development lifecycles between tests and developments and production environments. Red Hat technologies bring scenarios under control and are accurate when it comes to solving issues.
