Acer Releases 'Chromebase for Meetings' an All-in-One PC for Video Conferencing
FREMONT, CA: Based on a report from Gartner, Acer has been acknowledged as the world’s leading Chromebook brand with a market share of above 33 percent in 2015. Acer adds to its product line the new touchscreen Chromebase (CA24V), a system for meetings based on ‘Chromebox for meetings’ which is an all in one platform dedicated essentially for video conferencing.
The new Chromebase comes with features that can virtually recreate a conference room environment and is backed by continuous technical support. It includes a 24 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display with IPS technology and viewing angles as wide as 178 degrees. The sound systems are fully enhanced with 4 microphones and 2 speakers. It also houses an adjustable HD webcam and a chassis that tilts from 5 to 30 degrees.
The Chromebase for Meeting is capable of engaging multiple devices such as laptops, tablets and smartphones to host video conferences on Google Hangout. The maximum number of users participating in the meetings can go up to 25. The participants can join the discussions from any location using the meeting link. The platform also integrates other video conferencing and phone systems.
The Chrome Device Management feature allows system administrators to manage multiple devices at the same time. As claimed by Acer, the new Chromebase does not require extra maintenance and technical support which in turn brings profit to company. Users will receive automatic security updates in every six weeks and the data stored is encrypted and protected by the secure crypto-processor, Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2 chip. Complementing its security features each boot up ensures integrity and validity of the system files.
The product which is currently available in Canada, UK, Ireland and Australia comes for a price of 799 US dollars which is inclusive of the annual charges for management and support.
