AI-driven Smart Policing to Predict Crime and Attain Fidelity
FREMONT, CA: For an increasing amount of police forces around the globe, the latest crime-fighting weapon of choice is not a gun, taser, or pepper spray—it's data! But is it possible to decrease crime with computer algorithms? Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) implies that this notion has jumped directly from science fiction websites into the real globe.
Technologists have come up with a full-fledged AI algorithm, which predicts crime in the real world. The software enables law enforcement agencies by evaluating and finding trends in historical information such as type, place, date and moment of the crime, as well as identifying smaller regions which are most susceptible to it. Police officers can then spend more time patrolling those areas and prevent somebody from violating the law.
Other AI developments find false theft accounts by employing advanced software systems, which utilize text analysis and machine learning. AI algorithms based on information collected through previous methods of policing begin to solve problems by educating the public and preventing future attacks with the help of predictive software. A global committee on AI regulation when it comes to crime needs to be set up. Such an organization would set norms in this area and find methods to decrease AI's amount of partial choices.
However, the most remarkable characteristic of AI is that algorithms can be used to assess and minimize unfair bias efficiently as well. In the future, there is hope that technicians will extend these methods to provide meaningful assistance to human decision-makers with projections free from prejudice.
