ALDI Leverages Siemens' Site Control EMS; Offers Energy Efficient Solution
AUSTIN, TX: Siemens’ Site Controls Energy Management System (EMS) has been successfully installed by a grocery retailing industry, ALDI at 1500 retail locations. Most of the EMS installations are done at existing stores on retrofits, where thermostats were replaced. Siemens also installed its Site Controls EMS in newly constructed stores. .
The energy management program developed upon Grocer’s previous initiatives by utilizing cloud technology looks forward to reduce carbon emissions, such as the installation of solar panels, at dozens of retail stores and four distribution centers. The ability to reduce energy consumption at its stores has allured ALDI to work with Siemens’. With the combined efforts, ALDI and Siemens were able to successfully install the remaining sites in less than 10 months. ALDI will also install the Site Controls system in new stores as it continues to expand across the U.S.
Site Controls EMS reduces energy usage at stores by monitoring and controlling key energy-consuming devices such as HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) units. It also monitors energy output and performance of on-site solar panels. The Site Controls Enterprise portal, leveraging cloud technology aims at assisting ALDI in reducing the cost of ownership and extending visibility and actionable information on all the equipments at all the locations. It provides central command and control solution with features such as, real-time visibility, operational dashboards, and site analytics.
“ALDI is a respected global leader with a commitment to sustainability, we are proud to support its emission reduction efforts and look forward to delivering even greater results in the future” asserts Marcus Boerkei, General Manager of the Retail and Commercial Systems Group, Siemens’.
