Aprecia Pharmaceuticals Rolls Out SPRITAM Tablets Using 3D Printing Technology
BLUE ASH, OH: Aprecia Pharmaceuticals has unveiled tablets for oral suspension known as SPRITAM tablets. It is now available as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of Partial onset seizures, Myoclonic seizures and Primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures. SPRITAM that is manufactured using 3D printing technology is the first of its kind prescription drug product approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The tablet from Aprecia Pharmaceuticals dissolves easily in the mouth with a sip of liquid and offers a new option for patients, including those who may struggle to take their medicine.

The tablet is prepared with Aprecia’s proprietary ZipDose Technology that combines precision of 3D printing and formulation science to generate quickly disintegrating formulations of medications. SPRITAM is out for availability in the combination of four unit-dose strengths that includes 250 mg, 500 mg, 750 mg and 1,000 mg.
Indications and Usage: SPRITAM is a prescribed medicine that is swallowed to treat partial onset seizures in people 4 years of age and older with epilepsy. Myoclonic seizures are treated in people of 12 years of age and older with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy and primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures in people 6 years of age and older with certain types of generalized epilepsy. It is formulated particularly for people weighing 20 kg (44 lbs) or more.
Warnings and Precautions: It is wise to consult physician before consuming the medicine since it comes with other side effects that may affect the patient. Antiepileptic drugs, like SPRITAM, may cause negative thoughts or actions in some people, about one in 500.
SPRITAM may cause extreme sleepiness, tiredness, and weakness, and problems with muscle coordination. If the symptoms worsen, approach the healthcare provider right away. Avoid driving, operating machinery or doing other dangerous activities until one is accustomed with the secondary effect of SPRITAM.
