Around One-Third of Enterprises Don't Employ BYOD: CompuCom Survey
DALLAS, TX: To establish convenient methods for employees to improve their workflow Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) became one of the most commonly adapted methods implemented in businesses. It effectively saves the enterprise resources spent in outfitting their employees with suitable devices, reports Charlie Osborne, ZDNet.
In order to enhance companies’ end-user experience CompuCom which provides IT managed services, infrastructure solutions, consulting and products, has conducted online poll in which the respondents were asked, “When it comes to BYOD, which best describes ‘Who decides which technology to offer and who pays’ in your organization?”. Nearly 418 IT organizations responded with their opinions helping CompuCom to analyze BYOD running trend in market.
According to the survey they concluded that almost one third of enterprises that is 28 percent have not adopted BYOD program. Statistically 24 percent stated that in their organizations business decides which technology to offer and business pays. 11 percent claimed that business decides and end users pay in their organization ecosystem. According to 19 percent, end users decide and business pays in their organization whereas 18 percent prefer end users to decide which technology to utilize and pay for the same.
The summation is that 35 percent companies prefer devices or operating environments that is compatible on the networks. On the other hand 37 percent facilitate their employees with option to choose device they are comfortable to work on, increasing their productivity.
Sam Gross, CompuCom, CTO, advocates in favor of adopting BYOD, he says that companies should start elevating their policies to execute and tailor effective IT support for business. He addressed the other phase of coin, where he considers that data security as a major concern companies while adopting BYOD. However implementing convenient on-site, walk up support can prove to be stepping stone for secure BYOD program which can be supported with strong IT policies and governance models.
