Brazilian Telecommunication Giant Oi Launches Gemalto's New SmartApp

FREMONT, CA: Oi, the largest telecommunications company in Brazil and South America has recently launched a mobile marketing channel with Gemalto in Brazil. The new SmartApp solution is custom-made for smartphones that offer rich multimedia content to improve customer engagement with added monetization features.

According to developingtelecoms.com, the newest innovation from Gemalto with its rich media accounts for an improved customer experience that boosts sales—up-sell, cross-sell—and provides profitable advertising ventures. Upon pairing with Gemalto's SIM-based LinqUs Mobile Engagement and Monetization app, Oi now delivers multichannel campaigns that have 100 percent reach-rate to its customers, including legacy and feature phone users. As a future roadmap, the teams involved have plans for Oi to support HTML5 Hybrid, which will aid easy campaign editing, cost effective deployment and interactive user experience with graphical menus, videos, and compelling surveys that users greatly prefer over traditional SMS.

Headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, Oi's major subsidiaries include Telemar and Brasil Telecom. As of 2013, Oi has recorded global revenue of US$ 12.0 bn.
