Dell Combines 6WIND's Virtual Accelerator and Turbo Router into its NFV Platform to Increase Application Performance

FREMONT, CA: 6WIND, a high-performance networking software company, announces certification of 6WIND’s Virtual Accelerator and Turbo Router by Dell as a standard product for its NFV (Network Function Virtualization) Platform starter kit.

6WIND Virtual Accelerator

The virtual accelerator provides packet processing acceleration for virtual network infrastructures used in Network Function Virtualization (NFV), Data Center Virtualization or Network Appliance Virtualization use cases.

6WIND virtual accelerator will provide Dell with benefits such as optimization of infrastructure costs by maximizing VM density and performance; minimizing time to deploy high performance virtual network infrastructures; and causing no change to orchestration and management tools.

Key Features include: NFVI acceleration software platform for virtual switching (Open vSwitch and Linux bridge), virtual networking and multi-tenancy (distributed routing, firewall, NAT, IPsec and more) and overlays (VXLAN, VLAN and GRE); supports any VNF with standard Virtio drivers to existing software infrastructure with no change to Linux, Open vSwitch, OpenSt, including 6WIND Turbo Router; and transparent ack and SDN Controllers.

6WIND Turbo Router

Provides a high performance, ready-to-use software network appliance to be deployed in bare metal environments or as a virtual machine.

Key Features include: bare metal or VNF deployment; CLI, XML or Linux-based management; high performance; fully-featured data plane networking for routing, virtual routing, NAT, firewall; and more high performance control plane.

With 6WIND Turbo Router, Dell will have benefits as ready to use routing and firewall software solution; provision of  hardware networking solutions on standard x86 servers; and  NFV / Data Center Virtualization deployments.
