Mellanox's Ethernet Series Will Soon be Deployed in US Department of Defense Networks
FREMONT, CA: Mellanox Technologies, an end-to-end interconnect solutions provider for data center servers and storage systems, announces that the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) has approved MellanoxSwitchX series of 10/40 Gigabit Ethernet switches for use on U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) networks. The DoD’s approval is a direct result of the DISA awarding Mellanox Federal Systems the Unified Capabilities Approved Product List (UC APL) certification for Mellanox’sSwitchX series of Ethernet switches.
This UC APL certification is mandatory for all switch hardware to be sold for use on DoD tactical programs. Now the Mellanox Ethernet hardware can be used for the production system of the DoD network. The certification also confirms the granting hardware recognition from additional federal agencies and foreign governments. The SwitchX series included in the UC APL certifications include: SX1012, SX1016, SX1024, SX1036, SX1400, SX1700, SX1710, SX6012, SX6012_WT, SX6018, SX6036, SX6036G and SX6710.
The Mellanox Open Ethernet switch family delivers the highest performance, port density and fabric management solution enabling converged data centers to operate at any scale while reducing operational costs and infrastructure complexity. This family includes a broad portfolio of Top-of-Rack (TOR) switches that range from 12 to 64 ports, with Ethernet data rates of 1GbE, 10GbE, 25GbE, 40GbE, 50GbE, 56GbE and 100GbE per port. These switches allow the building of cost-effective and scalable switch fabrics, from a few nodes to tens-of-thousands of nodes.
Mellanox's multi-rate Open Ethernet products enable users to benefit from a scalable, lower latency, and virtualized fabric with lower fabric costs and power consumption, greater efficiencies, and more simplified management than traditional Ethernet fabrics.
Using the SwitchX series solutions, Mellanox will now support the U.S. government's IT networking needs by delivering high-performance connectivity solutions, high-performance computing, and enterprise data centers.
"Federal agencies of the U.S. government, specifically the Department of Defense, require the most advanced and high-performance networking solutions available," said Dale D'Alessio, CEO of Mellanox Federal Systems. "These solutions must also adhere to the strictest security requirements to ensure data protection and guarantee that their system is up and running at all times. The UC APL certification is the latest confirmation that Mellanox has become the leading provider of the world's fastest and most flexible Ethernet interconnect solutions that can be trusted by federal agencies to deliver unrivaled security and accelerated performance for their data centers."
