ARES Security Corporation
Reimagining Security Paradigm with the Power of Digital Twins

ARES Security Corporation

BEN EAZZETTA, CEO
In a world where gun violence, terrorist attacks, and civil unrest are increasingly prevalent, implementing advanced physical security programs and technologies is a necessity. Organizations are constantly investing in their physical security framework to effectively identify and respond to physical breaches and internal and external threats. These investments are often costly and do not take advantage of advances in AI/ML or automation.

Digital twin has emerged as a key enabler of physical security, helping organizations to quantitatively validate and optimize their security system effectiveness while reducing costs and significantly improving and automating response. Acting as virtual bridges, digital twins connect the physical and digital worlds by offering detailed representations of complex, real-world systems and creating exciting new possibilities across the threat detection and response landscape, including robotic and unmanned systems.

Established with a vision to build transformational security software using AI/ ML, ARES Security Corporation has disrupted the physical security paradigm by centering its solutions on digital twins.

ARES Enterprise Security Platform delivers solutions to plan, prevent, deter, assess, and respond to all types of incidents. The security as a software platform consists of the AVERT suite, Vidsys, and Mayday Safety solutions, designed to meet the needs of any organization. Its best-of-breed solutions make a difference by helping clients effectively prevent and mitigate risks while indemnifying themselves against acts of terrorism. ARES has been accredited by the Department of Defense and Department of Energy, and its solutions are certified under the Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act.

Embracing the Power of the Digital Twin for Optimizing Security

ARES takes a holistic approach to security and begins each project by building a digital twin with the exact level of detail required by clients. Its patented modeling and simulation engine holds the key to designing a security infrastructure that is resilient, agile, digitized, and intelligent.

Locations are converted into a digital format using products like Google Maps and ESRI to provide detailed images of the site, highlighting the terrain and other features. The engine scans both indoor and outdoor locations to render an exact digital representation.

The digital twin is then characterized based on a client’s security systems, sensors, and how their guard force operates. Threats are identified down to the smallest details for various scenarios, like improvised explosive device threats, active shooter situations, vandalism, or theft.

“After the parameters are established, we run multiple simulations to identify failure paths and assess every possible permutation of an attacker entering the facility and how the security system works in each situation. Other pathways to failures are also identified by taking an in-depth look at the combined sensor and personnel defense systems,” says Ben Eazzetta, CEO at ARES Security Corporation.

ARES collects vast data sets based on the simulations and conducts detailed analyses to identify opportunities for optimizing security. For instance, it evaluates how the effectiveness of the security infrastructure can be increased if sensors are upgraded, response time is reduced, or effective training programs are implemented. Based on the outcomes, the most efficient security plan can be put in place.

This is possible because, unlike subject matter experts, its software does not work within a fixed paradigm. It finds the weaknesses and strengths in a system and enables clients to make required changes.

Through this approach, based on hundreds of assessments of testing all permutations of security threats on a digital twin, ARES helps clients save between 10 to 50 percent on staffing costs, as well as 20 to 70 percent on capital investments.

Designing and securing a safer future in real time
Clients experience the true benefits of the digital twin by leveraging the AVERT suite of solutions, each of which can be executed individually or in concert to enhance the operations, security, and safety of an organization. The suite includes AVERT for design, physical security, AI, mission planning and operations, virtual reality, and virtual tabletop.

Developing the most effective and affordable security plan for any location and evaluating the effectiveness of various security modifications or projects is made simple with AVERT for Design. A robust security risk assessment software tool, AVERT Physical Security can be used to visualize and quantify the performance of any physical security threat against critical assets, as well as response plans.

Driven by the patented modeling and simulation engine, AVERT Virtual Tabletop allows tabletop training through algorithms that can accurately calculate outcomes based on line-of-sight. As a true 3D platform, it provides virtual training where users can immerse themselves in an experience enhanced with textures. For instance, a defender can experience an active shooter situation and participate in first-person simulations to neutralize the intruder.

Our Comprehensive Range Of Solutions And Extensive Understanding Of Security Allows Us To Use Digital Twins To Demonstrate The Unfolding Of An Event And Improve Response. This Also Allows Clients To Assign A Score To Quantify Their Effectiveness Against A Threat

The AVERT Command and Control software is leveraged by some of the largest companies, including Apple and ExxonMobil, numerous U.S. ports and U.S. Air Force accounts, and building complexes like the World Trade Center. Unified, customizable awareness dashboards, applications, and integrations for a multitude of use cases, industries, and locations are delivered through the solution.

Customers can also automate the decision-making process by using AVERT AI. AVERT Mission Planning and Operations software helps plan, manage, and operate aerial, ground, and robotic assets.

“Our comprehensive range of solutions and extensive understanding of security allows us to use digital twins to demonstrate the unfolding of an event and improve response. This also allows clients to assign a score to quantify their effectiveness against a threat,” says Eazzetta.

This quantitative evaluation allows them to communicate better with the leadership team on important security decisions. From an automation perspective, core security capabilities are improved to make a site more secure and cost-effective.

ARES’ expertise is best showcased in the case of a nuclear energy operator, where the team’s detailed analysis of sites enabled the client to reduce security staffing costs by 50 percent while improving security effectiveness at the same time. By leveraging its solutions, they were able to save approximately $3-5 million per year per site. ARES has collectively saved up to $150 million in annual costs for multiple clients in the nuclear industry alone.

In another instance, a major corporate campus saved millions by leveraging AVERT Physical Security. An analysis of an active shooter situation revealed that their existing systems were ineffective.

ARES discovered that the client’s planned investment of $2 million in technology upgrades would be futile, as the problem was not with their detection system but the response measures. Guard posts that did not increase security effectiveness and could be replaced with low-cost technology were also identified. Their response method was improved by installing bulletproof glass, implementing access control, and investing in high throughput detectors. The possible number of casualties was reduced to less than one. By leveraging ARES’ solutions, the client was able to save $6.7 million over three years.

”The Growing Manpower Shortage And Cost Concerns Have Left Organizations More Open To Deploying Robotics For A Number Of Different Use Cases. We Are Determined To Assist Customers In Overcoming These Challenges Through Effective, Automated Security And Inspection Systems”

Advancing Security Capabilities

Improving its platform each year, ARES has grown to expand its offerings through a series of acquisitions, including Vidsys, Inc. and Mayday Safety.

By incorporating these solutions into its enterprise security platform, ARES allows clients to build the best possible security infrastructure. For instance, Vidsys’ mission-critical Physical Security Information Management software has scaled ARES’ operations to manage over 150,000 devices into a unified system that provides efficient and consistent responses to security incidents in and around the World Trade Center Complex.

Vidsys has also provided access to over 400 commercial connectors and integration with the majority of commercial video management, access control, gunshot detection, and other security systems. With this, ARES now has the largest integration library, providing an open, web-based architecture that delivers immediate value and grows with the unique needs of any organization. It has combined the AVERT Command and Control module with the Vidsys platform, rebranding it as the AVERT C2SIM solution that is capable of providing both situational awareness and advanced physical security information management at a low cost. The highly scalable, SaaS, and server-friendly solution can be integrated with thousands of devices and video management systems and offers mobile panic alerting. ARES’ future development includes significant work on improvements to automation, mobile integration such as CivTak, AI at the edge sensors, and robotics.

At the same time, Mayday Safety’s mass alerting, notification, and communications application enables customers to quickly and effectively respond to any emergency. By connecting the solution to the AVERT Command and Control, users can integrate site data as well as various systems, like GIS, cameras, access control, and hardwired alarm systems, to monitor, alert, and communicate during an event.

Moving forward, the focus remains on expanding capabilities to deliver all-inclusive solutions for clients. ARES has also formed partnerships with various companies to add more ground and aerial robotics systems to its arsenal.
“The growing manpower shortage and cost concerns have left organizations more open to deploying robotics for a number of different use cases. We are determined to assist customers in overcoming these challenges through effective, automated security and inspection systems,” says Martin Rahmani, business development executive at ARES Security Corporation.

Founded by a group of passionate leaders on a mission to change the security paradigm, ARES has made its mark by enabling clients to manage their security infrastructure from anywhere, anytime. The AVERT suite of solutions has evolved to cover the entire physical security lifecycle to protect the world’s most critical assets. Making the world a safer place with digital twins, ARES’ solutions are a testament to how AI can be best used to protect people and assets.
