What makes the company different is simple. They view candidates, employees and clients as customers and they invest in building meaningful, long-term relationships with all three. Ascent does not just locate talent and supply it, they build their network and reinforce every relationship along the way.
Ascent specializes in three services and three skill categories. The services are: Staffing, orkforce Management and Strategic Consulting. The skill categories are: Life Sciences (Clinical & Scientific), Technology and Business Professional. Ascent Pharma provides a full life cycle human capital solution within the Pharma, Biotech, Medical Device, and related FDA-regulated industries for contract staffing, contract to hire, direct hire search and small project consulting services. Ascent Pharma places professionals in the Life Sciences industries from Research & Development, Pre-clinical clinical Lab, Clinical Trials, Regulatory, Production/Manufacturing and Validation to Quality & Compliance. They have an extensive network within the industry that enables them to target and recruit qualified talent.
Joseph Nordlinger, President and CEO of Ascent, gives his perspective on how the field is evolving, “The ever growing drug and device segment presents major challenges of attracting and retaining the best talent. Additionally, the sporadic surge in clinical activity leads to supply and demand issues for clinical professionals.” He adds that, “The recent trend to professionally manage clinical studies, especially, has been to outsource clinical studies to CROs [Contract Research organizations].”
Ascent Pharma partners with our clients to truly understand their corporate culture and differentiators
Unlike their competitors, Ascent has made a conscious decision to support the CRO community rather than offering CRO service themselves. Earlier this year, Ascent was approached by a Top 5 Biotech (sponsor) to quickly build a team of 12 Clinical Research Professionals to monitor the clinical research activities at the site level. The specific therapeutic indication was extremely rare but using their advanced networking innovation, Ascent was able to quickly find the talent needed for the effort and helped the sponsor complete the monitoring activities.
Ascent invests in a variety of programs company-wide to ensure alignment and engagement of their professionals and clients. Extensive focus group work has helped them understand what both are looking for in an agency relationship. This translates into better assignment completion rates and more productive engagements. Ascent’s Consultant Engagement Management program is a highly evolved consultant care program that focuses on smooth on-boarding, consultant retention, timely issue resolution, and contract completion. This ensures that all professionals feel that they are not only a part of the Ascent team, but that they are connected and aligned to the goals of the client.
Ascent’s road map is to continue to build out service offerings and expand networks organically through their investment and commitment to people and relationships. Nordlinger explains that, “Where we see opportunities to buy and integrate a company with the right cultural and business building blocks, we will integrate other enterprises into our platform. Above all we will be mindful of an ever changing industry and economic environment and know that we are not the only ones focused on innovat ion.”
