It is often assumed that only big manufacturing players can implement MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Technology. “Taking a step back, embracing MES required a heavy investment and committed IT managers to operate and maintain the application. As many vendors operated on the legacy systems, the industry lagged behind to adapt itself to latest technologies like mobile platform, in-memory technology. Today things have changed,” begins Mekala S. Rao, President and Founder, Atachi Systems.

The company has developed a cloud-based platform called NGIMES— quick to configure and easy to develop application, which runs on mobile devices or browser. The app doesn’t have a historical database and doesn’t encourage ETA (Extraction, Transfer, and Loading), which are not robust as compared to other MES products and that makes it unique. “With NGIMES, companies don’t have to invest and spend on infrastructure or require any IT workforce to own the application to gain a real-time visibility,” explains Rao. The company has been implementing MES for medical devices, electronics for the last 7 to 8 years and is giving early adapters one to two years of free licenses.

Apart from the cloud, Atachi Systems leverages SAP Hana technology, which can handle massive amount of data and also the existing data in the silos. The larger players have numerous manufacturing facilities globally, but they are not connected. And they need a biginfrastructure to roll it across different data center or data warehouse to get a consolidated view of those plants.
To avoid massive maintenance cost, time delay, top management faces challenges due to disconnected databases. “We give aclear picture for the manufacturing enterprise management; if a company has 20 manufacturing plants, we are capable of managing it all in a matter of day or two. Without any purchase or any big decision making, organizations can have a clear visibility of their enterprises on any mobile device,” points out Rao.

For instance, one of the leading medical device manufacturers invested millions of dollars in MES solution and as the solution could not go live on time, they failed to achieve the desired ROI. “Taking the situation in hand, wehelped the company by maintaining a 24/7 support and made the application go live. Today, the application has been used for 10 years approximately,” says Rao.

Moving forward, Atachi System is looking for the system integrators, the value-added resellers to help them expand their footprints globally. Atachi Systems wants to bring as much as manufacturing information that is being generated in silos and roll it into their product. “The more you know about the product, the more helpful it is,” concludes Rao, who believes in consistently delivering the best of breed services to the client, so they can deliver the same to their customers.
