Jake Shepherd, President
Every company wants to find solutions for an increasingly digital future, but what does that mean from the perspective of business outcomes? During the early phases of cloud computing, it meant searching for any form of innovation that would give companies a competitive advantage and allow them to leapfrog over their rivals. But as technology becomes more refined, innovation must come with a defined business purpose.

Today's challenges lie on the macro scale, with companies more concerned with process optimization (combined with responsible spending) to achieve desired outcomes. It is no longer simply about bringing something new into a business. Instead, organizations must determine how to make the deployed technology run better, be more efficient, and become more scalable. This becomes increasingly complex as digital-era business expectations around the speed at which innovation can occur is further shrinking existing time frames.

BUILT recognizes these and positions itself in a sweet spot, helping businesses take a more objective-oriented approach to the tools they use. Possessing a deep understanding that each organization is unique, the firm leverages tried and tested methodologies and their existing toolkit to create a consolidated approach focused on achieving their best interests. Above all, BUILT is equipped to serve as trusted advisors because the team behind the company are entrepreneurs themselves.

"We find the common denominators, so we can be efficient and find the multiplier best suited for that individual client," says Jake Shepherd, president of BUILT.

He considers finding these multipliers critical to consolidating previously isolated technological tools into unified systems that can integrate across various departments and multiple businesses in case of mergers and acquisitions.

BUILT looks at what's best for the long-term success of its clients before building a solution aligned with their specific business needs. Instead of walking away upon project completion, the company offers ongoing support to take work off their plate (i.e., maintaining and continuing to evolve a system) so they can focus more intently on higher-value proposition tasks.

An example of the latter approach comes from BUILT's work with a national sales organization that was modernizing their data, software, and collaboration process. This business contacted the firm to ensure their investments would be profitable, leading it to conduct a four-part baseline assessment.

For this project, BUILT performed a workforce risk assessment, examining capacity, workforce maturity, and potential inefficiencies. From there, the firm thoroughly analyzed the organization's existing software development practices, looking for gaps and areas of improvement.

Quality maturity was next on the docket. This involved putting the client's test environment and practices under scrutiny before providing impactful recommendations. Ultimately, BUILT honed in on their data management processes, resulting in a multi-year collaborative roadmap.

We find the common denominators so that we can be efficient and find the multiplier best suited for that individual client

Delving into the results of this engagement, Shepherd states, "Within two years, this organization had accomplished everything they had targeted while reducing costs and accelerating the global implementation of a CRM solution."

This collaborative approach focused solely on business outcomes gives BUILT an edge over its competitors. The same mindset is built into the company's culture and is likely the main reason behind its impressive 95 percent customer retention rate.

Moving forward, BUILT is expanding to go beyond a technology consultancy. It is building in-house 'solution accelerators,' such as a pipeline management tool and various apps within the SalesForce AppExchange, which offer clients new solutions as well as refine existing ones. By combining the consultancy services with its imminent solutions accelerators, BUILT is poised to continue helping clients calculate business value realization and develop unified solutions.
