In today’s data-driven economy, effective data analysis and integration is crucial for businesses to stay relevant in the industry. In that context, the importance of breaking down data silos for improved insights is second to none. As the volume of data increases and real-world-data (RWD) capture becomes easier and more prevalent, companies are finding real value in data integration and making data-driven business decisions. Integration of RWD is particularly challenging as it often derives data from multiple sources and in different formats.

Founded in 2001 by Dr. Staffan Gestrelius as a software company that develops proprietary products for data curation, integration, exploration, and visualization, Capish nips these challenges in the bud by revolutionizing the way complex data is stored and processed. The company utilizes a conceptual information model by leveraging the modelled data along with innovative algorithms for an intuitive and inspiring data usage experience. Capish enables data-driven innovation by making data and the data relationships accessible to anyone in an organization at any time and allows users to fully utilize their data for insights. “We are unique in our approach to storing and retrieving data.

Capish has re-imagined data exploration itself, and our technology transforms data from any source into a format that is easily integrated and analyzed in combination with other data,” asserts Eva Kelty, CEO of Capish. “More importantly, our way of storing data makes it “future proof,” meaning the data is standardized and readable by computers and humans alike.”

We seek to create a wiser world by delivering inspiring products that empower users to turn their data into knowledge

Unlike any other analysis software that breaks data apart into tables and increases its complexity while decreasing its accessibility, Capish stores the data and metadata together in an ontology rather than fragmented tables, which makes it faster and more intuitive. Capish’s approach to modeling addresses the market need for obtaining quick results from complex data sets—where the initial step is to curate the information into structured and standardized semantic messages called “holons.” These contain not only the values but also the metadata associated with the data, including field names, units, and data type, as well as the information about relationships with other data in a set. It allows customers to query all of their complex data fast and also provides flexible and efficient user-friendly interfaces for handling and analyzing the information.
Capish provides a dashboard environment with unique data modeling that allows for a full-service interface where customers can rapidly analyze relationships in their data through a few intuitive clicks. As the underlying database is flexible and sustainable, users can easily access, combine, explore, and enlarge datasets.

One of the most unique aspects of the company is its approach to client on-boarding. From the get-go, Capish’s integration tool extracts a client’s data, standardizes it, repackages it into a conceptual model, and makes it available through an intuitive user interface, which puts minimal strain on both the IT department and the users. The painless integration and standardization process also make it easy to supplement additional data—, such as clinical trial data—at a later date without adding to the workload of either the IT department or users.

Capish has worked with government agencies and several large pharmaceutical companies, including clients in the clinical trial data space to ensure data quality and consistency. The company works with its customers to maximize their clinical trial investment by curating their data in a format that is standardized to ISO and ICD10, translated to a common language, and compared to references. Moreover, Capish has been successfully operating in Europe and is currently expanding into the North American market. The company expects to implement updates over the next few years to extend the functionality and enhance analysis speeds for customers that are working with large and complex data sets. “We seek to create a wiser world by delivering inspiring products that empower users to turn their data into knowledge,” states Kelty.
