Cocoflo Innovations is committed to addressing the deep-rooted obstacles associated with legacy technologies in the public sector. Municipal legacy systems often operate in silos, leading to a disjointed and frustrating experience for citizens, while causing inefficiencies and increased costs for government administrators managing multiple processes.

Through a unified, modular solution that integrates with existing legacy technology stacks, Cocoflo’s software platform facilitates better communication between different government departments. This streamlines processes, improves access, and enhances citizen engagement, ultimately leading to more effective delivery of government services.

There are two key differentiators for Cocoflo’s cloud-based city services. Unlike most solutions, it does not require cities and municipalities to replace their existing infrastructure. Instead, it sits on top of their legacy software, accessing different levels of their technology stack through APIs and other methods. This means cities do not have to discard any software system they already have in place. In addition, Cocoflo Innovations provides a single sign-on for citizens and staff to access all government services in one consolidated platform, eliminating the need to log into multiple URLs or physically visit City Hall to complete different tasks.

For instance, if a citizen has to pay property tax, apply for a business license, and request a building permit, the traditional approach would require either a visit down to city hall, or navigating multiple websites or systems. However, our single sign-on platform consolidates all government services into one location with a unified look and feel, simplifying the process and improving the overall citizen experience,” Jonathan Levitt, VP of Growth at Cocoflo Innovations.

Additionally, Cocoflo’s platform is designed with a modular approach, which allows governments to easily adopt the technology.

This allows cities and municipalities to start using one platform module and gradually adopt other modules over time. The platform offers a wide range of modules, including emergency alerts, payment processing, licenses, development planning, communications, transportation, and recreation. This modular approach covers everything citizens traditionally need to do in person at City Hall, making them accessible in one place through one platform.

A testament to Cocoflo Innovations’ success is its collaboration with Stafford County, Virginia, to deliver flood warnings to the local population. By using data from IoT flood sensors around the area, the company created an Emergency Alerts interface that sends SMS or email notifications to citizens when water levels become hazardous. This project is a prime example of how technology can improve public safety by delivering timely alerts to people in flood-prone areas. The goal is to prevent loss of life and minimize property damage due to flood incidents. After successfully completing the pilot phase, Cocoflo Innovations plans to expand these alerts to include events like fire and smoke, demonstrating its commitment to leveraging technology for public safety.

Founder Bernie Florido’s background as a city police officer, land developer, and tech entrepreneur has been instrumental in shaping Cocoflo’s vision and mission, which is centered on community-driven smart city strategies. This approach has enabled the rapidly growing tech company to create solutions customized to the specific needs of the communities it serves.

Cocoflo Innovations has recently opened a new office in Stafford, Virginia, to support its clients in the U.S. and drive commercialization efforts. The current team of 25 employees plans to double in size over the next couple of years. While its primary focus is on Canada and the U.S., Cocoflo Innovations plans to expand into Europe, and South and Latin America in the future.
