“Businesses generate two and a half quintillion bytes of data daily and these data exist all over on-premise, off-site storage, and cloud-based applications,” states Austin McChord, CEO, Datto. Data plays a major role in storing business tracking records, information, logs, and statistics. Therefore, preservation of information is a profound necessity. Gartner reveals that only 6 percent of companies worldwide have survived a disastrous data loss, 43 percent never reopen and 51 percent close within a couple of years. Consequently, with such a need for a data recovery system, the Disaster Recovery as a Service market indicates an estimated economic growth of $1.42 billion in 2015 to $11.92 billion in 2020.

“Datto empowers businesses to protect their mission-critical data no matter where it lives,” extols McChord. Headquartered in Norwalk, CT, Datto provides complete system backup and wide-ranging data recovery and business continuity solutions. “We offer end-to-end recoverability and single-vendor accountability,” he adds. The company proffers a Total Data Protection Platform, including a set of software and hardware devices with a 140 petabyte purpose-built cloud hosting service to store and retrive data. The Inverse Chain technology of Datto removes damaged backup chains and switches customer data to a universal file format during every backup.

Supported by round the clock technical support and innovative technologies such as Instant Virtualization, Hybrid Cloud, Screenshot Backup Verification, Inverse Chain Technology, and Backup Insights, Datto brings a series of products to protect businesses’ vital data. Datto family of data recovery solutions includes SIRIS, ALTO, Backupify, DNA Router, and Datto NAS. “Backupify protects over 3 petabytes of data and restores a file in 1.3 seconds,” he extols. It is a restoring solution for SaaS applications like Google Apps, Office 365, and Salesforce and works as a cloud-to-cloud backup.

While SIRIS ensures enterprise business continuity, ALTO 2 and ALTO XL is exclusively designed for small and medium businesses. These devices use the hybrid cloud model and Screenshot Backup Verification as their base and protect both Windows and Linux operating environments.

Datto’s hybrid cloud technology saves data records both locally and in the cloud and, “offers the most robust, scalable, and cost-effective way to prevent costly downtime,” adds McChord. The image backup produces a visual proof of a successful data backup. Datto provides a secure data storage with ownCloud on SIRIS, which can be accessed from both desktops and mobile devices. Moreover, SIRIS efficiently maintains business continuity by being more than just a data-backup system. “With SIRIS, data loss from any hardware, malware, or natural drawbacks in a server, can be barred,” says McChord. Immediately after a server fails, SIRIS creates a virtual version of that server to prevent information loss. “It helps business applications to run after six seconds. And with a grave issue, the whole network swiftly shifts to the Datto Cloud,” McChord adds.

For instance, a UK based specialist employment services provider, Remploy embraced Backupify as a part of their Google Apps deployment strategy to get a more cost-effective, scalable, and flexible data backup system. “Google gave us additional security features, admin controls, and unlimited storage. However, to make better use of these offerings we needed a backup solution. We couldn’t afford to lose any data,” expresses Ronnie Main, Service Operations Manager at Remploy. Bacupify helped the company manage their computer records and eliminated their data loss concerns.

Looking to tomorrow, Datto’s CEO intends to reach his dream of running an iconic technology company that will ensure worldwide businesses a secure and ready-to-retrieve cloud data backup. “When you can't control what will happen, protection is your best and only defense,” he concludes.
