Ecolane
The Leader in Accessible Mobility

Accessible and equitable transportation is the cornerstone of social justice, enabling independent, fulfilling lives for all. Transit agencies today must take the necessary measures to erase the barriers that have long restricted mobility—from paying and boarding to riding.

Ecolane, the industry-leading web-based transit scheduling software, equips transit agencies with the capability to better manage driver shortages, increase productivity, maximize efficiency, and improve the overall experience for their entire ridership.

“Our mission is to provide an end-to-end, planning, booking, scheduling, and managing software platform and services that enable transit service providers to better serve their communities and yield an immediate increase in productivity and efficiency,” says Spiro Gjorgjievski, president, Ecolane.

Ecolane’s solutions for on-demand transportation include a paratransit module for scheduling, dispatching, and monitoring disabled and aging people who cannot use fixed-route public transit services. Its non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) makes transportation service convenient and easy for individuals without access to and from critical care and procedures, such as cancer treatments, dialysis, and other medical appointments. The microtransit solution is particularly valuable to agencies looking to deploy demand-response vehicles for geographic areas with limited transportation availability.

Building the Future of Free and Sustainable Mobility

In its quest to provide intelligent webbased transit scheduling software, Ecolane recently released its new platform, Evolution.

Ecolane Evolution is an on-demand scheduling and dispatching platform offering transit agencies real-time route and ride optimization. This enables agencies to better utilize their existing resources and ensure safer, more accessible, and more equitable transportation alternatives to communities that might not otherwise have means of transportation.

Ecolane believes in the future of free and sustainable mobility centered on inclusive experiences. To this end, the company addresses all personalization, convenience, and accessibility requirements.

It will continue designing products to empower transit agencies to operate efficiently and enhance productivity, as well as cost savings and sustainability—all while fostering community relationships.

In 2022, it launched a Mobility-as-a-Service solution, X4MaaS. This multimodal trip planning platform enables riders to board and validate fares for any mode while their phone is in their pocket. The super wallet solution provides integrated trip planning, booking, and payment for fixed routes, ADA, on-demand, third-party rideshare, and bikes in one app. X4MaaS will be implemented by Michigan DOT in a statewide implementation this year.

Our mission is to provide an end-to-end, planning, booking, scheduling, and managing software platform and services that enable transit service providers to better serve their communities and yield an immediate increase in productivity and efficiency

Enhancing the Safety and Security

Ecolane is the first company to introduce this advanced MaaS solution to the U.S. transit market in partnership with a technology partner, which provides sensor-based validator hardware. These sensors connect over the air with a rider’s phone as they board, even while the phone is in their pocket or purse. It then checks for a valid fare payment for that ride and issues a notification that is ADA-compliant.

X4MaaS promotes equitable and accessible transportation to all citizens with its ADA and Title VI compliance. For riders without a smartphone, this solution supports a Bluetooth-based smart card that can connect over the air with the sensors. The rider can board with the smart card in their pockets. This solution improves passenger safety because riders do not have to linger in the fare box area.

“Our product development roadmap will enhance the safety and security of all participants and provide end-toend trip planning for the riders while empowering agencies to do better planning and future expansion utilizing Ecolane intuitive technology,” says Gjorgjievski.

The next steps for Ecolane include expanding sales in the U.S., exploring opportunities in other geographies, and developing the next-generation Ecolane multimodal platform.
