Paving the Way for Remote Online Notarization Solutions

ENotaryLog

In 2019, James Mitchell and Joseph Bisaillon, combined their legal and software development expertise to form eNotaryLog. Three years later, eNotaryLog is a leading legal tech firm specializing in the emerging remote online notarization (RON) space. Mitchell and Bisaillon were originally inspired to create eNotaryLog when presented with the real-life need to accelerate the notarization of documents for a terminally ill friend. Despite their efforts, finding a notary took days and they were discouraged by the arduous process. Both knew it need not be so inconvenient. Yet, the experience exposed a document notarization need that could not be ignored. There could easily be an accommodating and seamless solution to support an immediate and accessible RON.

Naturally curious, Mitchell and Bisaillon began considering ways to make notarization processes accessible, seamless, and convenient. By leveraging their combined legal and software development expertise, they were determined to develop a secure, easy-to-use notary solution. And from there, eNotaryLog was born, a platform where online access to a notary is convenient and accessible anywhere, anytime.

“We offer industry-leading RON and eSignature solutions via our cloud-based MISMOcertified and SOC 2 compliant digital services platform”

“We offer industry leading RON and eSignature solutions via our cloud-based MISMO-certified and SOC 2 compliant digital services platform,” said Mitchell, co-founder and CEO. In addition, eNotaryLog pursued a unique approach to have leading global law from DLA Piper review and audit the platform to provide validation of security and establish the essential trust and credibility of the platform.

eNotaryLog’s uniqueness lies in offering online notarization solutions that address the challenges around the most complex notary transactions. The company's platform is powered by intuitive dashboards and customized tools that assist businesses, law firms, and organizations with an end-to-end RON process. Corporate clients also leverage the platform to simplify workflows and manage complex signings, including those involving foreign signers or hospitalbased individuals. Law firms and title companies often pay to navigate the complexities of using multiple portals to complete a transaction, but with eNotaryLog’s single sign-on solution, the manual process is reduced and the need for multiple portals is eliminated. And the eNotaryLog platform identifies prerequisites to the completion of online notarizations that are driven by state laws and the commissioning state of the notary.

With its business operations filtering customer centricity, eNotaryLog offers two distinctive onboarding methods.

First, clients can quickly onboard their in-house notaries onto the eNotaryLog platform with which they will meet the requirements for an online notary in their commissioned state. This includes a notary's electronic seal or eSeal and their digital certificate. eNotaryLog then creates a notary profile on its platform and provides access to the dashboard which allows them to create, prepare and execute online notary sessions for their company and its clients.

eNotaryLog's client success team provides extensive training and regular account management to ensure clients are ready to undertake notary sessions. Second, clients can leverage the expertise of eNotaryLog’s in-house notaries to execute notary sessions. The company creates an organization profile for the customer and gives them access to a dashboard to upload documents and submit them for eNotaryLog to execute. eNotaryLog clients may use their own notaries, eNotaryLog notaries, or a combination to meet their notarization needs. Notaries access their eJournal within the platform for real-time digital documentation of notary transactions.

We are a digital technology leader and remote online notarization resource provider focusing on maintaining close connections with small businesses, enterprise organizations, attorneys, and law firms. All to streamline their businesses by innovating and advancing digital documents solutions

eNotaryLog's platform employs a stringent identity proofing process to help notaries serve as impartial third parties to validate the credibility of a signer. This includes credential analysis where identification documents are captured and verified, which checks IDs against security features by leveraging AI, and compliant machine learning. It also employs knowledgebase authentication questions to verify further the signer.

Following the verification process, the signer may connect to the notary session and view the document, and any changes made in real time. They also have access to an audio-video feed with the notary. This feed is recorded and maintained for a minimum of 10 years (in accordance with state requirements). eNotaryLog has audit trails and additional security features to seal the document with an identity-based digital certificate (x.509 tamper-evident certificate). These security features authenticate the digital signature and electronic notary seal while preventing tampering with documents, giving the client signer confidence in the security validity of the online notarization.

eNotaryLog also offers an innovative e-Signature solution that provides flexibility for users. The company delivers white-labeling functionality and embedded technology to customize the e-Signature tool and apply it to RON and the overall platform.

With RON available in nearly all states, the primary goal for eNotaryLog is to continue to expand its reach and support. There are ongoing legislative efforts in the remaining non-RON states. “We are a digital technology leader and remote online notarization resource provider focusing on maintaining close connections with small businesses, enterprise organizations, attorneys, and law firms - all to streamline their businesses by innovating and advancing digital documents solutions,” said Joe Bisaillon, chief strategy officer and co-founder. “We continue to integrate and activate new features based on client feedback to further enable secure digital documentation and seamless workflows.” Bisaillon concluded.
