Empowering Network Management

A network’s potential is measured by the performance of the connected devices in an organizational framework. However, networks today have grown increasingly complex and the markets have evolved accordingly. As the market shifts to collaboration, virtualization of the data center, and cloud-based services, the role of the network continues to grow, inadvertently giving rise to the need of network management. This is where LiveAction comes in.

The company is a network-management solutions provider that specializes in Cisco Medianet, Cisco Application Visibility and Control (AVC), Cisco Mediatrace, and Cisco Technologies. Headquartered in Santa Clara, LiveAction accelerates troubleshooting with its Quality of Service (QoS) control, Application-Aware, and Wide Area Network (WAN) functionality developed through engineering partnerships with Cisco Systems.

“LiveAction is an application-aware network performance management tool, which incorporates real-time visualization, accurate point-and-click configuration of Cisco technologies such as QoS, NetFlow, IP SLA, Medianet, AVC, and ISE,” says Darren Kimura, CEO of LiveAction. He further states, “This solution combines monitoring and management abilities to change policies and quickly and immediately see their effect. It also leverages other Cisco technologies like TrustSec SGT, ACLs, PfR, Routing, and PBR switching and spanning tree.”

LiveAction uses visual icons and in-depth topology graphics, in addition to text, tables, and graphs offers accurate rendering of complex networks to render swift understanding of problems and available solutions. It is capable of delivering support to large scale enterprise networks containing tens of thousands of devices and imparts a single-pane-of-glass view across the entire enterprise framework. In addition, LiveAction Flow is application software that provides a network topology view and end-to-end flow visualization of live traffic across the network. With the software, users can also rapidly drill down to individual devices or interfaces for more detail on flow functionalities. This makes it easy to visualize trouble spots on the network and gain a better understanding of real-time and historical traffic patterns.

LiveAction QoS monitoring and Configure enables organizations to track QoS performance on a per-class basis allowing IT engineers to create, edit, and apply QoS policies for Cisco routers and Layer 3 switches on live networks with a very low margin of error.

LiveAction also allows for easy accessibility for generation and surveillance of synthetic network traffic to perform network performance diagnostics, test policy changes, or proactively monitor key network paths with its Internet Protocol Service Level Agreement (IP SLA). The Routing provides real-time routing visualizations for Cisco networks that can identify attainability problems, routing loops, and asymmetric paths affecting traffic quality. LiveAction LAN provides real-time Layer 2 visualizations for networks, including trunk interfaces, port channels, VLAN associations, and bandwidth percentages.

We at LiveAction help our partners by enabling their customers to use more of Cisco features, which offer end-to-end visibility with analytics and rapid problem distribution, resulting in higher customer satisfaction

LiveAction, with Cisco, has benefited a congregation of organizations by helping them baseline QoS configuration capabilities and analytics with their solutions. Seventy Seven Energy, a diversified oilfield services company, needed a better network management tool to rapidly deploy and avoid disruptions to their revenue stream which includes Oil and Drilling, Field Tool Rentals as well as Trucking services. Seventy Seven Energy had a lean twelve member team that basically was challenged with building out the entire IT infrastructure and environment within a short schedule. LiveAction provided a means to deploy out QoS policies five times faster and speed up their application performance diagnostics and resolution by twenty times, enabling them to save costs and increase productivity by 50 percent.

LiveAction delivers solutions bridging the gaps for IT departments of both public and private sector and private enterprises as well. “In the near future, our mission is to revolutionize networking and we will continue to offer end-to-end visibility with analytics and rapid problem distribution, resulting in higher customer satisfaction,” concludes Kimura.
