Unified Communications (UC) plays an important role in boosting productivity and efficiency by increased collaboration, offering greater mobility and saving employees’ time. But, creating and implementing a seamless UC experience does have its challenges including latency, bandwidth implications, and sharing infrastructure with other types of applications. In addition to those, most features being offered by UC solutions are inaccessible by users. MegaPath’s UCaaS service, MegaPath One, gives employees a full-featured UC experience in a single application that works on desktops, smartphones, and tablets. “MegaPath One connects distributed employees, with voice and video conferencing, multi-party chat, and desktop sharing in an integrated team workspace,” says Dan Foster, President of Business Markets at MegaPath.

MegaPath, a VoIP trailblazer, evolved over the years due to growing and changing needs in the marketplace, culminating into an all-in-one unified communications, data, cloud IT and managed network and security provider. “We are focused on delivering next-generation cloud services and supporting partners as they sell into this emerging cloud space,” adds Foster.

The company’s UC product MegaPath One combines IP business telephony with video calling, instant messaging, presence, and online conferencing in a single application working on any smart device. It delivers a full-featured UC experience that includes an always-on virtual collaboration space, with one-click audio and video conferencing and the ability for users to take turns sharing their screen within the same group session.

In order to ensure confidentiality, data integrity, and authentication, MegaPath provides enterprise-level secure remote access to a client’s network that includes end-to-end encryption. “We use industry-leading technology that supports BYOD and avoids bandwidth bottlenecks. A firm’s employees gain safe and secure access to enterprise data and applications among branch locations and from remote laptops, tablets and other devices,” explains Foster. “Our IPsec VPN service uses a framework of open standards that provides an alternative to proprietary IP-based security technologies to ensure private, secure communications.”

The company also offers a mobile app for virtually any platform giving users a full-featured UC experience across devices.

Unlike some other UCaaS providers, MegaPath offers flexible installation options with dedicated project management, rather than just an over-the-top, self-installed service. Foster adds, “We use WebRTC technology, a standard browser communication protocol, to extend the collaboration experience to external guests via a WebRTC-enabled browser such as Google Chrome.” By doing so, there is no separate app to download for external guests and businesses gain more conferencing capabilities than traditional costly conferencing service offers.

A large distributed bottling company turned to MegaPath to replace its aging PBXs with a UC service at 22 locations across nine states. Prior to the change, their phones were not working at some of their locations and external customers were unable to place orders and their field staff could not call into their voicemail to monitor order levels. With MegaPath, the company gained advanced features including Voicemail Transcribed as Email and the ability to make and receive calls using their business phone number from any device.

MegaPath is focused on investments in their UC and Cloud service offerings to drive innovation and growth in these expanding markets. Their upcoming projects include the expansion of WebRTC to include the support of web-based auto-attendants and click-to-call functionality that customers can publish directly on their web sites. “We will also be introducing additional third-party integration including a suite of APIs published for verticals and more out-of-the-box third-party contextual integrations with other applications,” concludes Foster.
