As a pilot program for TrueStoryteller, Micromation worked with GS1 to further explore the capabilities of the service. The pilot aimed to provide a transparent history of the product's journey from seed to sale, including origin, sourcing, certification, testing, and other key supply chain information. Micromation used GS1 identification keys, such as the global trade item number (GTIN) and global location number (GLN), to consistently track data as the product transfers between trading partners. All the product data was stored in a QR code on the product label for consumers and trading partners to access. Traceability solutions that use standardized, persistent identification, like GS1 standards, enable businesses to build trust with consumers by providing complete supply chain transparency.
