Driving Cross-Platform Interoperability for Slack, Cisco Webex Teams, and Microsoft Teams

Enterprise communication is perpetually fragmented with a multitude of messaging platforms often co-existing alongside each other in the same organization. It is not uncommon for an engineering team to use Slack, for example, while their colleagues rely on Microsoft Teams or Webex Teams for team collaboration. The proliferation of these multi-vendor collaboration environments creates barriers to real-time interaction between co-workers that leads to inefficiencies and lower productivity.

In a bid to break down these silos in enterprise communication, Mio offers a solution that synchronizes messaging applications and drives seamless, real-time communication. With the mantra of ‘Keep your teams in sync,’ Mio enables interoperability between Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Webex Teams. Interoperability increases productivity and ultimately enhances the bottom line.

Looking after the entire messaging experience

Direct Messages

Mio revitalizes enterprise communication through cross-platform direct messaging. Users of Microsoft Teams can directly interact with colleagues on different messaging applications like Slack or Webex Teams.

Channels

Mio also allows users with different messaging tools to join and fully participate in group chat channels on disparate messaging platforms.

Messaging features

As a cloud-based SaaS product, Mio enables users to upload files, thread messages, and edit or delete messages while communicating in real-time with colleagues who may be using a different messaging application.

Breaking up collaboration silos

Mio’s interoperability across Microsoft, Slack, and Cisco empowers its clients to break down barriers in enterprise communication and relay messages across various applications.

The company kicks off its alliance with clients through a proof of concept and a 60-day evaluation period so they can sync all their messaging tools and can start communicating freely across different platforms.

Mio’s simple, web-based on boarding tools can be customized and configured to an organization’s combination of chat apps as required.

From a security perspective, Mio does not store any messages or sensitive customer information in its system, eliminating threats of a data leak. Mio’s SOC-2 compliance and its use of encrypted transport protocols ensure that privacy and security of client data are always safeguarded.

Invisible functionality with APIs

Mio is distinctly positioned in the market with its ability to combine mature, RESTful APIs, and enhance the already rich user experience in enterprise messaging apps. As the only company to provide total messaging interoperability between Slack, Cisco Webex Teams, and Microsoft Teams, Mio aids its clients to quickly and efficiently send direct and group messages, threaded messages, emojis, file uploads between competing platforms.

“Mio fosters the coexistence of multiple messaging apps, like Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Webex Teams, by leveraging APIs to create communication interoperability across an organization,” says CEO, Tom Hadfield.

Furthermore, Mio is unique in that there is no third party client to train employees to use. Admins benefit from a one-time configuration, and the app invisibly sits within all messaging applications to relay chat. Users are unaffected and their experience remains the same—only now with enhanced access to their colleagues who they previously couldn’t chat with.

Interoperability expertise

Drawing a picture of the Mio’s expertise, Hadfield recalls when they assisted a global sportswear brand to establish full interoperability between Microsoft Teams and Slack. Mio enabled direct messaging capabilities between their Microsoft Teams and Slack users and, by spring 2019, the client was able to enable peaceful coexistence between Microsoft Teams and Slack. Since then, they have enjoyed seamless communication across the two applications.

Mio currently focuses on aiding companies to improve internal messaging interoperability, regardless of the messaging platform they use. The company’s next major release, in fall 2019, aims to support external federation to assist organizations in their communication with customers, vendors, partners, or external agencies across different enterprise messaging applications.
