The pandemic-driven shift to remote work exacerbated employee disengagement, as the lack of in-person interactions limited opportunities for organic connection and collaboration. Move the Chain recognized the urgency to boost workplace unity, collaboration and morale and developed an innovative engagement and gamification platform to foster a sense of community and alignment with company culture.
The company focuses on understanding employees’ interests, connecting them with like-minded colleagues and mentors. In addition, the platform helps companies launch point-based gamified activities in line with company values to encourage desired behaviors in a fun and engaging way. This increases their motivation to work and enhances overall performance, thereby reducing turnover and boosting loyalty.

In partnership with three diverse beta clients—a small-scale enterprise with 500 employees, a mid-sized company with 5,000 employees, and a Fortune 200 client with 22,000 employees—Move the Chain developed a comprehensive platform to rekindle employee engagement. Through ongoing dialogue and collaboration, the firm came to a pivotal realization that interpretations of employee engagement may vary, but the fundamental strategies to foster it share common ground.

Accordingly, Move the Chain began focusing on developing Workplace Gamification—a catalyst for connecting and motivating employees, improving onboarding processes, providing mentorship programs, and enhancing employee engagement by building vibrant communities and employee resource groups. Workplace Gamification stood out as a significant factor driving its employee engagement efforts.

The concept of Workplace Gamification was conceived during a collaborative brainstorming initiative. It combined client insights with the diverse perspectives of Move the Chain’s global team members from five countries, encompassing various ethnic backgrounds, genders and LGBTQ+ representation. The team brought together HR experts, engineers, and user experience designers, who shared the belief that revolutionary ideas are not confined to any specific segment of an organization.

“Workplace Gamification reflects our ethos of nurturing contributions from all parts of an organization to foster connectivity and endorse a culture of mutual support and care within it,” asserts Mylene Pedone, CEO and co-founder of Move the Chain.

Workplace Gamification function integrates artificial intelligence (AI) and social media-like features to foster connectivity and promote a supportive culture within an organization. It goes beyond standard gamification elements by integrating direct communication channels, peer recognition, and rewards for actions that not only align but enhance a company’s cultural values. This includes encouraging employees to actively participate in team-building activities, community services, wellness initiatives, and a focus on continuous professional growth. The platform facilitates the formation of teams, promotes constructive competition, and enhances employee social engagement.

Since its introduction, Workplace Gamification has delivered significant results. The platform’s design, which is based on direct employee feedback, has captured the interest of over 30 percent of the workforce within the first few months. Once the platform expanded its language offerings to cover more than twelve languages, adoption rates increased even further.

Move the Chain’s dedication to innovation extends beyond employee engagement to include customer experience and societal engagement. Through data analytics and user experience research, the firm continuously enhances its offerings to meet the changing customer requirements.

“We partner with nonprofit organizations to address issues of inequality and drive social change via technology,” says Andre Pedone, co-founder of Move the Chain.

Move the Chain is reshaping workplace dynamics by fostering employee engagement and connectivity. By complying with company values and implementing innovative solutions like Workplace Gamification, the firm creates an environment where employees feel valued and motivated. The company’s broader initiatives in customer experience and societal engagement enable it to extend its impact beyond organizational boundaries, contributing to societal prosperity and leaving a legacy of positive change.
