More Zenful Data

Digital content found online has tripled and the amount of information is growing so quickly that people are facing a tough time organizing and using it. The average users are now more digitally empowered than ever. Interaction with technology is far better than ever before, so how does a vendor adapt? The answer is Big Data.

The concept of collecting, aggregating, and analyzing large data sets from various sources, both internal and external, is giving rise to the Big Data movement or in some cases Big Data dilemma. Besides, the larger the company, the more data they collect and the more sophisticated they are in processing and analyzing that data. Concisely, every company consumes web data but the process of getting it from 'www' into their database is a huge headache!

This is where Mozenda steps in. It addresses each of the pain points by providing a SaaS solution which is simple to use, relatively inexpensive, hosted (cloud computing), and very powerful. Based in UT, and founded in 2007 by Brett Haskins, the President and CEO, along with Corey Young (CTO) and Chris Crabtree, this Big Data technology enabler is uniquely positioned to help companies acquire and structure large data sets from the web. The main concept behind Mozenda is 'More Zenful Data' that describes the easiest way in which users can utilize, gather and share data using the Mozenda system.

The company augments Big Data environments by adding the capability to collect and transform large quantities of external and mostly unstructured web data into a structured data feed. It specializes in the development and sale of web data extraction software tools. Its flagship product, The Web Agent Builder, is a software tool that enables users to point and click on data elements within a web page and then automate the extraction of that data into a structured database. Users can automatically schedule and run jobs, receive notifications when files have been transferred successfully or when errors occur. Also the data can be exported or published in popular formats such as XML, CSV, TSV, or accessed through the Mozenda REST API.

Mozenda users are gathering a goldmine of information and utilizing it in their Big Data strategy

The main objective behind their services is to provide users with handy tools which require little technical knowledge about web data extraction.

The key difference between Mozenda and its competitors is the software itself. Mozenda’s product eliminates the time and resource drain when compared to other traditional web data extraction techniques and more complex software solutions. Once gleaned, the data can be viewed, edited, and exported using the customized tools within the application. It employs all the latest cloud equipment and technology in the datacenter and has the ability to scale up very quickly.

Like many successful startups, Mozenda is not without its share of success stories. In the last four years, more than 50,000 people have used Mozenda for data collection projects. 20 percent of the Fortune 100 has used Mozenda for gathering insights into market information, competitor pricing, product launches and analytics needed for tactical and strategic decision making. Whether it’s monitoring trends or collecting competitive intelligence, Mozenda customers are gathering a goldmine of information and utilizing it in their Big Data strategy. Even companies who outsource web-based data collection services overseas are finding Mozenda to be a cost effective alternative.

So what does the future hold for Mozenda? According to Haskins, "Mozenda will continue to innovate better and more cost effective ways to collect and format large quantities of unstructured and semi-structured data in a way that seamlessly integrates with leading BI and Big Data applications."
