This has led to widespread downsizing and consolidation as companies figured out how to adapt to the new normal and operate in this nascent environment. It was during this difficult time that Novus Consulting was founded. According to Kate Stevenson, Partner, ‘The fundamental motto for the company was to help these organizations thrive post-pandemic by helping them rework their roadmap to be more adaptable to a digital strategy’.

Every business needs a clear strategy to perform successfully and this is more relevant now than ever before. Novus Consulting understood that at the core, company data should be available in a structured format to operate with a hybrid workforce and continue with operational excellence.

As it probed deeper, it found out there were a number of reasons why companies were struggling during COVID-19 with bad or unstructured data, inefficient processes, and outdated technology. It had to closely analyze the environment, their pain points, their growth strategies and the technology landscape to truly envision a future path for them.

The pandemic brought forth the issue that if a company’s data is mismanaged, remote coordination and collaboration was likely to fail. Hence, it’s important that companies know what the data looks like when it's created, when the data is being updated and how the data is being utilized throughout the organization to find optimal ways to improve business processes and align with their data strategies.

Also with consolidation, Novus finds the right way of meshing data and people by defining core Operational processes that further define roles and responsibilities. Kate Stevenson adds, ‘Whatever that future state is, we have an approach where we help companies align their processes to data and technology so everyone knows when and where data is created, technology is used, and ownership is clearly defined across the organization. Change isn’t easy and it’s made worse if there is any ambiguity in how people do their jobs.’
In its most recent completed project, Novus successfully helped a client re-optimize it’s field through strategy consulting, process optimization, company-wide standards and data consolidation. This particular client had a fast-paced growth through acquisition strategy where the acquired companies all operated differently across the organization. This led to people working differently in each asset, data being spread out into four different production systems, and the inability to pull trust-worthy data together for performance KPIs. Novus worked directly with the field and the corporate governance team to define new processes, consolidate data into one production system, execute on corporate standards, cleanse the historical data to align to new processes and standards, and deliver a corporate-wide training program.
