CIOREVIEW >> Quantum Computing >> Quacoon

Quacoon has been recognized by CIOReview Magazine as the recipient of “Top 10 Quantum Computing Service/Consulting Companies - 2020,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry. This profile has been developed by the CIOReview research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Tina Sebastian, Co-founder.

A challenger is one who dares to look beyond the traditional and realize a new world. Quacoon is one such company that is getting ready to tame the quantum computing jumbo in the business world. Currently in stealth mode, the Ohio-based company has set out on one clear mission—to make every business quantum computing-ready.

Quacoon anticipates that there will be a drastic turn of events as the world gets closer to the democratization of quantum computing. To elaborate, quantum computers can break into the Internet’s most widely used security encryption codes, putting online eCommerce and communication in jeopardy. “This will be similar to the Y2K epoch when businesses were scrambling for the proper formatting of calendar data in their computer systems,” says Tina Sebastian, co-founder of Quacoon. “As such, there will be a huge demand for resources to upgrade their systems and secure the data and networks.”

“It is an exciting time to be involved in quantum computing,” says Tina. Beyond helping clients secure their systems, Quacoon will allow them to exploit the opportunities that come with quantum computing. And the company is making every effort to that end.

Quacoon has all hands on deck, building the required skills, conducting research into quantum algorithms, and building strong partnerships with advanced researchers in the domain, and benchmarking the available frameworks and hardware vendors. Certified by MIT for quantum computing, the Quacoon team is building professional resources through in-house training to accelerate our clients’ journey toward quantum computing enablement. The focus is also on creating a portfolio of pilot projects to demonstrate the value of quantum computing to prospective clients. With time, the company envisions to work on full-scale enterprise projects leveraging hybrid quantum computing (that combines classical and quantum computing) tailored to the clients’ needs. Also on the cards is a community forum that supports collaboration between researchers, established companies, and startups to advance quantum computing as a combined effort.

Such an all-encompassing approach is aimed at solving the many significant challenges along the journey. To begin with, most companies lack the awareness, investment, and resources for this new technology domain.

Very few companies have a plan in place for quantum computing, but still, they lack the expertise to build software solutions for the same. Other companies either have superficial knowledge about the current trends in the domain or just have no knowledge at all.

To alleviate the current situation, Quacoon is focusing on offering consulting services that are inspired by classical consulting practices. As part of its readiness assessment program, the company analyzes clients’ existing applications and the existing problems to understand which of those can be solved through quantum computing. Based on the analysis, Quacoon charts a transformation roadmap that includes not only the specific steps but also strategies to train their teams and bring them up to speed with the latest in the domain. Moreover, in light of the emerging government as well as IT policies, the company ensures that all transformation strategies are in line with the current regulatory policies. The company also carries out client-focused workshops as an encouragement for them to participate actively in solving their longstanding business problems.

“Our vision is backed by the core values of innovation, integrity, and quality. These factors differentiate us from the market competition,” adds Tina. “Our plans for the future will require the business world to get involved in the unlearning and relearning to think in a fundamentally different way, and we are game for it.”

Interestingly, Quacoon is already working on a set of quantized machine learning algorithms to analyze the COVID-19 virus data. Plans are afoot to introduce a quantum-as-a-service platform with additional domain-specific solutions.
