QuTech: Tailoring IT Solutions for a Perfect Fit

Renita Anderson, President
Integrating new technology into legacy systems can be a hefty task, especially for government agencies and SMBs due to budget constraints. An incremental spaced approach of infusing new technologies into the existing legacy systems while maintaining data integrity without affecting service delivery is the way forward for such organizations. Maryland-based QuTech takes this approach to help these organizations keep pace with the technological advancements while ensuring that services do not come to a standstill. “We constantly test the IT environment in a sandbox before bringing in new technology and integrating it with legacy systems,” says Renita Anderson, President of QuTech.

QuTech delivers tailor-made IT solutions for each client instead of developing a one-size-fits-all solution beforehand. The company constantly assesses new technologies and validates whether or not these tools and processes can be leveraged to improve service delivery. QuTech first understands their customer’s business models and needs. Then either a commercial-off-the-shelf product or a customized service offering is developed that supports the specific needs of that customer to fit their current and future business needs. Additionally, working in partnerships with their customers both on-site and remotely has resulted in a team that has in-depth knowledge of the customer. QuTech, then delivers impactful timely strategic solutions.

Cybersecurity is one of the main areas of expertise for QuTech. They have a team with rich experience in information assurance, security planning, and Governance, Risk and Compliance. “We are constantly seeking and developing cost-effective cybersecurity measures to minimize threats and to proactively protect the data that’s traversing the network,” says Renita.

Many organizations today have a distributed management approach for their IT systems where different groups manage the network, security operations, applications, and other commodity IT services. QuTech partners with the customer in a cross-organizational collaborative approach to establish appropriate organizational security boundaries, technology innovation, effective processes, continual improvement, and IT governance creating an end-to-end service model that is agile, support infusion of new technology and sustain long-term benefits. One such organization approached QuTech with the agenda of identifying security threats to their IT environment and maturing their assessment and authorization process.

They first defined the security categorization, potential impact, and implemented the NIST Cybersecurity Framework allowing the customer to prioritize remediation of high, medium, and low vulnerabilities. Then the company’s expert cybersecurity team conducted a comprehensive risk assessment, developed and implemented a comprehensive security plan across all business lines rather focusing on specific IT security tools. They also developed the critical supporting documentation providing a robust security posture for the customer.

QuTech has a 29 year history of providing network engineering, service desk, web services, data center operations, and IT program management to federal agencies. “One of the things that we have done earlier this year is that we acquired Fusion PPT, LLC, to increase our IT portfolio and our reach across the federal sector,” says Renita proudly. Fusion PPT has highly skilled experts with in-depth knowledge of leading technologies. This has helped QuTech to expand their service offerings to include cybersecurity Governance, Risk and Compliance, cloud computing, and big data analytics, DevOps, Enterprise Arhitecture, CIO policy and strategy support.

Additionally, QuTech has strategic alliances with Microsoft, Dell, and Cisco. This gives them the advantage of an extensive partnership reach of resources while catering to their customers’ needs. They also have many contract vehicles, such as GSA ALLIANT Small Business, GSA IT Schedule 70, Navy SeaPort-e, Army Combined Arms Center IDIQ, DSS PMO, GSA MOBIS/PSS, and Treasury. QuTech maintains CMMI Level 3 and ISO 90001:2015; 20000-1: 2011 Certifications.

QuTech plans to expand through mergers with companies that align with their core competencies. They also look to enhance their current offerings and hone their expertise and skills in these areas. “We don’t want to be the jack of all trades, we provide experts in these focused areas,” concludes Renita.
