Rippling Positive Impacts for Officer Well-Being, Resiliency and Retention

RippleWorx

Angela (Angie) Sandritter, CEO
With proven results in the athletic sphere, RippleWorx has found its call of duty to positively impact officers' performance and support the right culture within law enforcement.

The Aristotelian adage “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit,” reflects law enforcement’s endeavor in positively impacting officers. Although the police workforce has always been motivated to protect and serve all community members, recent controversial events and the ripples around the 'great resignation' are impacting their workload and performance. This can negatively influence an officer's personal and professional well-being. To this end, training them in habitual resiliency via easily ingestible bite-sized content can enable them to rediscover their job motivations and become more committed and engaging. This is where RippleWorx comes into the picture with its eponymous digital performance analysis platform designed to enrich officers' work engagement and emotional well-being through consistent actions to reinforce behaviors of well-being and resiliency. With its patent-pending deep sentiment analysis, RippleWorx provides a platform to give officers a voice that provides real insight to command staff on what is the current pulse of the organization. "Once we capture the current officer sentiment through business intelligence, our solution serves up the right nudge or bite-sized type of reinforcement content to help redirect officers in a positive way," says Angela (Angie) Sandritter, CEO of RippleWorx.

Holding rich experience in talent development and motivation, Angie understands how a person's emotional well-being reflects their professional performance. RippleWorx’s digital platform is designed to offer critical insights on whether an officer is motivated, discouraged, or experiencing burn-out to formulate measurable motivating strategies to support, motivate and retain the officer.

The SaaS platform comes in mobile application and a web-enabled Desktop dashboard view. It captures data from an easy pulse survey and performs deep sentiment analysis to understand the trends, risks and opportunities within the department. The company values anonymity and doesn't show individual, responses, but rather provide automatic interventions based on a response to better map the analysis outcomes with officers' workload.

To fully understand workload, the platform also takes in 911 call data. It even measures workload versus on-site staffing and shows how much an officer aligns with organizational pulses and areas of misalignment. These actionable insights translate to better work engagement and help officers develop their motivations into habits.

All the analysis results are shown on a dashboard display for folks at the command level, which helps them make more informed decisions to better support officers on the field. In addition, the platform gives visibility for the command staff of how officers interact with RippleWorx on their mobile app.

"People are used to communicating on their phones. We gave officers the missing piece, which is a regular voice, one that command staff listens to," states Angie.

The platform can even help law enforcement offer situational training to their officers for the types of calls they may take. All of this is offered just-in-time and through a mobile platform.

The existing content of a law enforcement agency can also be integrated into the platform, enabling them to deliver more dynamic content. In this regard, RippleWorx can also develop material for leadership and wellness training. "We use something called our RippleWorx score to measure its efficacy," says Angie. In essence, RippleWorx enables law enforcement to provide individualized training to officers to augment their well-being and performance.

We want to move into better optimal performance and to make people feel at a state where they can perform to their best ability

Looking ahead, the company's roadmap looks bright. They are gearing up to help police departments in the long run. Over the next few months, they will focus on retaining good officers. Beyond that, RippleWorx will help departments use data to be smarter on trends in officer well-being. This will help to create a culture to support officers with their on-the-job stresses and produce long-term, positive results. "We want to move into better optimal performance and to make people feel at a state where they can perform to their best ability," concludes Angie.

Huntsville, Alabama-based Rippleworx helps both workers and management

Thursday, August 22, 2024

Employers want a motivated, reliable staff. Workers want to be happy in their jobs and have bosses listen to their concerns.

A Huntsville-based company is using employee surveys to help both workers and management get what they want.

Dr. Timo Sandritter is a native of Germany who has two doctorates and a law degree. Sandritter, who first came to the United States to play soccer, started a company in 2017 to track the motivation of professional athletes. That company,
RippleWorx , has expanded its scope to consult with government, law enforcement and private companies to improve workplace performance, employee retention, job satisfaction and communication.

RippleWorx’s clients now include the Alabama Department of Corrections and theU.S. Department of Defense.

Its website cites some unsettling facts about the American workplace. More than 40% of frontline staff members are considering leaving their jobs, and many feel unconnected. Unsupported employees are four times more likely to leave. Nearly half of all frontline managers suffer daily burnout and need stress management tools.

“We really focus on how can we retain, engage and help organizations perform and individuals feel empowered to perform within those organizations,” said CEO and co-founder Angie Sandritter.

With roughly 21,000 active users, the company has launched more than a half-million workplace surveys and collected more than 50,000 responses.

Using that information, RippleWorx provides “targeted recommendations and strategic actions leading to a workforce equipped with the physical, mental and emotional capacity to achieve their goals.”

Its proprietary methodology, called RPX5, and AI-driven analytics produce data that suggest ways to address issues. The company describes itself as “an indispensable ally to frontline desk-less workers across a range of industries.” Sandritter said Rippleworx’s “feedback loop” works as an employee’s “listening solution.”

“We’re going to be able to take feedback from the organization in our performance models and give the actions necessary to develop, retain and engage those individuals,” she said.

Through anonymous communication, employees can relay specific information that Teams doesn’t work for their needs, for example, or that they need clarification on the latest communication from company leaders.

“We can even take that intentional feedback from employees and give summarized views to leadership,” Sandritter said.

So-called deskless workers such as police officers and utility workers typically communicate on mobile devices and rarely go into an office.

“With utility workers their office might be a truck or a squad car or a manufacturing floor,” Sandritter said. “Their ability to have regular connectivity is limited.”

After RippleWorx becomes involved, many employees report that “this is the first time I feel like someone is really listening to me,” she said.

“More importantly, we track employee motivation. Is that employee motivated to come in to work that day and do their job?”

One of the company’s strengths is improving communication between workers and management.

Employees, particularly younger ones, “won’t tell you when directly asked, but if you ask them on a mobile device, they communicate authentically,” Sandritter said.

Getting their feedback is important because young workers are typically the hardest to retain.

“There is a generation where they want to be heard; they want their voice to matter. They have options,” she said. “That’s the challenge of employers, trying to address those concerns and still bring these businesses forward in these economic times that we’ve had.”

The namesake “ripple” concept is based on making small, positive changes incrementally or saving money a little at a time.

“As humans, we want to get to goals in life,” Sandritter said. “Better performance is based on the ripple effect.”
