In just two weeks, it deployed LoRaWAN technology from the Atlantic to the Pacific to measure the sulfur content emitted from individual vessels crossing the canal. Within five weeks, Senzary developed a methodology and configured the necessary applications to assign sulfate measurements from individual vessels being processed in real time without installing any devices on the vessels. This resulted in over 1,000 vessels being measured in December alone, demonstrating the project’s success. This showcases the versatility of IoT and how it can be used in niche-oriented applications, not just in industry 4.0 enterprise solutions. The Panama Canal authority now has tools to enable its business model around emission controls.
