Empowering Editors to Achieve More

TYPO3

Mathias Schreiber, CEO
While new technology broadens horizons, organizations need content management systems (CMS) that can do more than just create websites. The existing CMS are evolving to develop new applications and use cases for managing content, multiple sites and information visibility of each website based on audience regions, with a single, intuitive and flexible system for editors to manage content. Same was the requirement for an industry-leading rollers manufacturer serving FedEx centers, Amazon warehouses, and 80 percent of airports worldwide. The Switzerland-based manufacturer wanted a product management system that could supply raw product information of over 50,000 products in 60 languages, to their local subsidiaries around the world for resale. The major game-changer that transitioned their manual processes into a smooth, automated, and convenient framework was TYPO3. The manufacturer—with over 70 local websites under the same domain—is now capable of enabling product managers of different regions to define the content they want to visualize on a specific site in a particular location. Each time an editor uploads an asset—images, 3D drawings, or PDFs—into the system, the information gets distributed automatically. With TYPO3’s ability to structure data efficiently, the manufacturer now has a better outreach of their products and has increased its leads by 40 percent after launching their new website—all with a single content management system.

This, however, is only one of many success stories that TYPO3 has scripted for its customers across diverse industries. TYPO3 is open-source and a highly secure content management system that allows businesses to create, manage and output any digital content in a single system, packed with over 9,000 features and at no license cost. Having aligned itself with ever-evolving content needs for two decades now, TYPO3 enables convenient content management, with its primary focus on structuring the complex data. “Content management is majorly about managing complex data structures. If a business has a system that doesn’t focus on truly structured data, they cannot reuse the data. Our strong trait is the ability to make complex data manageable, even for a manager who lacks the technical expertise.” States Mathias Schreiber, CEO of TYPO3 GmbH.

TYPO3 was devised as a response to the need for a multilingual system and since then has been coping with every challenge digital content has thrown at them. Structured and multilingual data are two of the three key elements that TYPO3 offers. The third pillar is TYPO3 CMS’s multisite readiness from the core that enables sharing of content between different websites out of the box.

With no license cost involved in TYPO3, businesses save nearly a quarter of a million that they spend every year, and can invest it in value-adding business strategies

With its built-in solution for businesses to export their site from one server and import it on another, TYPO3 eliminates their concerns of migrating from one site to the next. Added to that, its next-gen image rendering abilities allow composing new images based on a ruleset defined per website and also per use of a single image (alongside the basic image manipulation capabilities like scaling, cropping, and adding watermarks). TYPO3’s critical features also include its out-of-the-box CDN support, automated scheduling of content publishing, integrated handling of remote media, and optimized system for mobile usage.

TYPO3 is also unique in a way that it provides support for businesses through its contributing vendors, unlike other open-source software that do not have support to reach out to when a problem occurs while running business-critical applications.

Besides expanding its footprint in the U.S. and Indian markets, TYPO3 is currently working closely with companies like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon to enable better performance of their system in the cloud. “With no license cost involved in TYPO3, but a feature-set incomparable to existing expensive systems, businesses save nearly a quarter of a million that they spend every year, they can then invest in value-adding business strategies,” concludes Schreiber.
