Making Trains Safer and More Comfortable

Vision IT, an innovative startup, is driven by a mission to digitalize rail vehicle maintenance, inventory, and engineering management functions. It has built a communication channel among trains, engineers, and operators to improve passenger safety and satisfaction while reducing maintenance and operation costs.

“Trains are still the safest mode of transportation, but the aspect of passenger satisfaction or comfort is often overlooked. Our AI-powered system brings all the information, be it train location, discomfort issues, or safety issues, under one umbrella and presents it in real-time before asset owners and operation and maintenance companies,” says Zekeriya Polat, founder and CEO of Vision IT. “This plays a vital role in making their job much easier.”

Vision IT has been Polat’s dream project since he was pursuing Executive MBA at Cambridge University in 2016. After graduation, he left the corporate world and set up the company’s foundation in 2019 in Kyiv, Ukraine. But the journey was never easy, as COVID-19 broke out and then Russia declared war against Ukraine. Polat, however, stayed resilient amid these adverse events and focused on his goal of revolutionizing the rail transport system.

Polat’s hard work has ultimately paid off. Today, Vision IT is actively used in regional high-speed rail vehicles in Ukraine, and major metro lines in Turkey and Egypt. It has also expanded in the North and South American markets. In addition, the development process for two projects is ongoing in South Korea, and pilot programs are underway in Bolivia, Poland, and Turkey.

The biggest testament to Vision IT’s success is how its solution helped the Ukrainian railway during the war with evacuation work. Users gained real-time access to the train, which was crucial to ensure the safety of passengers.

What differentiates Vision IT is its capability to work with any train, no matter how old it is. For example, in Bolivia, the company installed its solution and made it work in a Locomotive manufactured in 1972. Vision IT always strives to make the solution simple for end users. It can be operated using a SIM card, and data is transmitted on the go.

“Digitalization is our forte. Even bigger players in the market do not have the bandwidth to work on any train. We aim to uplift our technology capabilities and bring real change in this sector,” says Polat.

Under Polat’s strategic leadership, Vision IT is currently focused on upping its ante through different partnerships. It partnered with Intel in 2022, gaining access to more cutting-edge technology. This is indeed an essential step toward quadrupling Vision IT’s expertise. Apart from this, it has partnered with rolling stock manufactures, components and system solutions developers.

With all these partnerships, Vision IT is set to be the name of change for improving passenger safety and experience on trains.
