Powering the Future of Retail Operations

Worksmith

Heads of retail operations move like rowers on a restless river. Broken lights, failing HVAC systems, missing employee uniforms, and malfunctioning payment counters are constant challenges that strain a store’s operations. On other days, the challenges are operational, with late vendors, unprepared staff, and customer questions arriving before answers are ready. No matter how the current shifts, it is imperative to maintain a special feel for the customer in a physical store, enhance the brand’s reputation, and deliver a consistent, remarkable customer experience.

Many operations leaders, unfortunately, are left to manage all of this with scattered tools, endless emails, and spreadsheets held together by hope. What they lack is not determination but a system that provides a clear picture. Instead, they face noise, disconnected updates, and problems that surface too late. Time slips away, stress multiplies, and customers notice the cracks before leaders do.

Worksmith was built to change this. Launched a decade ago, the platform was designed specifically for retail operations. It brings facilities maintenance, creative services, learning management, task management, and soon, store audits into one ecosystem. By unifying these functions, it reduces complexity and gives leaders real-time visibility and control.

“Unlike common SaaS platforms, Worksmith did not adapt office software for retail. We built a solution that starts with the head of retail operations and the realities of running stores,” says Bryan Burkhart, founder and CEO.

Facilities Maintenance and Creative Services

The facilities maintenance module is straightforward and powerful. Stores can initiate and track work orders through an app or web portal. Emergency repairs such as electrical or plumbing work and preventative services like pest control, HVAC, and fire safety inspections are all covered by Worksmith’s vendor network of highly qualified local service providers. Dedicated account managers oversee the process to ensure quick resolution. Consolidated invoicing and analytics provide further clarity and price transparency.

The platform also supports creative services that enhance the store environment. Pickup and delivery for the cleaning of employee uniforms, tailoring of customer clothing, weekly flower delivery, beverage services, and seasonal decoration setup are available through the system. By covering these customer-facing details, retailers strengthen their brand presence and create extraordinary store experiences.

With the acquisition of Progress Retail in July, Worksmith added a learning management system. Executives can create and share training modules for new products, compliance procedures, and sales techniques. Engagement tracking and quizzes ensure retention, while performance links directly to sales results.

Worksmith also helps manage daily store tasks. Headquarters can assign routine checks such as monitoring temperatures, cleaning, or verifying displays. If issues arise, the system alerts the maintenance team immediately. The audit function allows regional managers to flag problems during visits and feed them directly to those responsible.

Human-Backed Technology and Growth

While technology drives Worksmith, it is reinforced by a people-first approach. Every client is supported by an account manager who ensures satisfaction.

“We know creating an extraordinary store experience is sometimes messy. That is why we combine software with human oversight. Without it, we could not consistently deliver the outcomes our customers expect,” says Burkhart.

The model has built strong client loyalty. Early adopters like Nespresso and Tory Burch remain with the company after ten years. More recently, Worksmith scaled to support global retailers such as Pandora, which operates more than 600 stores. By sharing in both successes and challenges, the company retains longterm clients while adding new ones every month.

Worksmith’s goal is to provide all the tools retail operations leaders need in a single platform. In a crowded market of point solutions, Worksmith stands apart by focusing on action, accountability, and the human side of technology. By giving retail leaders a unified platform, the company is redefining what it takes to create an exceptional store experience.
