World Wide Technology: Catalyzing Automated Network Management

James Kavanaugh, CEO
The proliferation of intelligent devices and applications is creating new demands on today’s enterprise networks. WAN bandwidth requirements are increasing and the complexity of technologies deployed are making it a challenge to maintain a healthy user experience. These demands are typically met by deploying more robust hardware to handle the increased performance requirements. However, enterprises need to deploy new networking devices and technologies that create better visibility and direct traffic through the network more effectively. With Cisco Intelligent WAN (IWAN), businesses can scale out performance as application demand increases and automate network management. World Wide Technology (WWT) provides the ability to automate network management specific to organization’s branch infrastructure through its partnership with Cisco allowing for multiple IWAN demonstrations. “We have numerous resources focused on Cisco and we are deeply emerged in Cisco from an executive standpoint,” begins James Kavanaugh, CEO, WWT.

The company works with clients to build Cisco Intelligent WAN (IWAN) models that accelerate branch upgrades and network implementation, develop a security roadmap, build BYOD solutions to reduce downtime and optimize performance. Cisco IWAN helps customers build an architecture that allows them to connect any user to any service without compromising application experience. As a Cisco certified partner, WWT also provides Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) training allowing clients to leverage Cisco UCS to unify network, computing and virtualization resources. With Cisco UCS, clients can combine computing, network, storage access, and virtualization into a cohesive system to reduce total cost of ownership and increase business agility. WWT’s Advanced Technology Center (ATC) enables its clients to explore how Cisco products fit into an integrated architectural solution. Clients can test UC, Nexus or UCS upgrades in controlled environments and explore ways to establish a highly resilient, data center.

In addition, WWT, with its Cisco partnership, provides customers with world-class procurement and professional services.

“To maintain our superior service and breadth of offerings, we offer Cisco training services delivering authorized training for our customers who are interested in pursuing certifications and professional development,” explains Kavanaugh. Training courses include enterprise networking, wireless, IPV6, security, unified communications, storage, data center and network management courses.

WWT has offered its services around Cisco solutions to a number of clients ranging from the pharmaceutical to manufacturing to insurance firms. In one instance, the Hawaii Department of Education (DOE) had poor internet reliability across many locations and the schools lacked the expertise to manage and update their equipments. WWT helped in deploying IWAN to boost internet speeds and implementing Cisco ISE that enabled IT administrators to see all users on the network. This enhanced DOE network reliability allowing more applications to move across the schools’ WAN. Better internet reliability improved test scores as well as allowed teachers to take advantage of technology for teaching.

WWT vests its focus on enhancing its ATC and integration labs to support clients from across the world. “We are spending a lot of time, money and effort, building out our ATC from a quality and scaling perspective,” explains Kavanaugh. “We are also seeking to grow our sales force in Europe, London, Amsterdam and other areas in Asia.” WWT will continue to strengthen its partnership with Cisco, by working on various projects such as collaborating on products in beta stage and providing them with insights on customer requirements.
