The company’s bench strength includes executives who served globally as renowned photographers, graphic and illustrative artists. “We created a specialized system where all roles within an organization–Art Directors, Photographers, Editors, Approvers, Retouchers, End Art Users–are able to work efficiently and collaborate internally with growing asset bases,” says, James Sorensen, XDAM Co-Founder.
Moving up from the company’s base product IBOX, the new XDAM’s project structure, user roles, metadata and asset workflows can be configured and adapted to integrate with any existing system. The “X” in XDAM stands for eXtensible, meaning the system delivers precisely the scalability the client needs.
XDAM’s LiveShoot is a state-of-the-art process with photographers and editors in mind. LiveShoot allows images to be globally accessible 5 seconds after the photographer takes a shot and is the fastest way to get media from photographers and videographers into the system so that other end users have immediate access to begin working with content. XDAM’s Asset Distribution Site is an integrated module, with an elegant UI, for secure distribution and sharing of final brand assets to clients, vendors or partners.
Leaders in the world of publishing, entertainment, advertising, retail product, stock photography, and media count on XDAM to maintain some of the most extensive catalogs of digital image assets in the world.
“We listen carefully, and embrace all the experiences of our clients’ varied workflows, across many different industries, and have innovated XDAM to be the elite configurable workflow DAM in the marketplace, for anyone who creates or manages digital assets,” Sorensen says. A decade ago, NBCUniversal (NBCU), started with IBOX and continued to scale up in size and functionality along with XDAM’s burgeoning capabilities. Currently, XDAM manages in excess of 30 million media assets for NBCU alone–assets that are uploaded in real-time at the staggering rate of 300 to 600 gigs a day.
“By managing all of NBCUniversal’s worldwide television asset needs for marketing, publicity, new media, and promotion, XDAM has literally improved NBCU’S bottom line by millions of dollars,” says Ray Slay, Senior Vice President, NBCUniversal Photography/New Media (Variety, 2012).
Over a decade into XDAM’s journey, the strategy remains the same: take an innovative and entrepreneurial approach to writing and engineering software updates, partner with customers and listen closely to their needs, find a standard when possible to make XDAM financially feasible for every company, and create the best Digital Asset Management system in the world.
