As the wave of digitalization soars higher than ever before, the construction sector continues to push toward the acceleration of product delivery. Darren Yee, the co-founder and CEO of Acculis, says, “The current construction methods won’t be able to handle such an increase in the product delivery intervals due to a multitude of reasons.” Realizing the need for efficient workflow management that could help organizations sustain fast-paced product deliveries, Acculis has developed a platform that enables companies to improve collaboration and operational efficiency.

“We wanted to create a platform that democratized workflow. Anyone using Acculis can share a link and instantly provide the right information to an employee or contractor without the hassle of having to download an app,” says Christopher Lysiuk, the co-founder and COO of the company. Acculis can be accessed through any device, such as a phone, tablet or traditional computer and web browser.

The Acculis platform oversteps the classical drawbacks of Building Information Modeling (BIM) programs: surplus expenditure of time, labor, and resources. Additionally, the legacy BIM programs were established nearly twenty years ago featuring a high level of complexity. Thus, companies using legacy BIM systems often find that information is siloed, and important data is lost. This leads to miscommunication, which can eventually cause expensive rework. Acculis removes all such technical barriers and communication issues traditionally associated with BIM. “The problem with older BIM systems is that the understanding between project coordinators in the office and superintendents in the field is quite different,” says Ada Slusarczyk, the co-founder and CIO at Acculis.

The project coordinators often try to send very complicated models into the field, and those prove to be extremely difficult for people working in the field while pulling out the relevant data. Acculis solves these problems by prioritizing the usability of its platform accordingly. Employees and contractors can access relevant data and gain value from Acculis without the need for a specific level of technical proficiency. “Our goal was to create a standardized workflow where everyone can jump in, engage with a 3D model, and effortlessly realize the value,” says Nicholas Molinski, the co-founder and CTO of Acculis.

Acculis is currently focusing on engagements with pilot customers and has already run a successful project with a client in Boston. The company continues to help clients improve adaptability, free up resources, and enhance collaboration and communication. While onboarding a new client, the Acculis team first develops an understanding of their current workflow in order to make the transition seamless. The company has even created plug-ins so that clients who are comfortable using legacy BIM systems can continue to do so. The Acculis plug-ins will record all of the critical BIM data produced and make it available in a much more digestible manner for everyone in the project team. This level of integration is done in the onboarding phase to ensure that all the stakeholders feel comfortable with the platform.

Acculis remains focused on developing collaboration solutions for construction companies in the BIM space. One of the company’s long-term goals is to help the construction industry become more familiar with technology so that the workers of tomorrow will have the requisite skillset for success as the industry evolves. Construction has typically been one of the least digitized industries; however, in the recent past, technology has allowed teams to build everything virtually before a screw is even touched. Acculis aspires to help construction companies become more efficient while improving their ability to carry out projects in an effective manner.
