PIN-Debit Transaction at the Gaming Position

As the public address system of the local Nevada casino started playing “Luck be a lady tonight” on a crowded Christmas evening, it immediately struck a chord with one patron in particular. For him, it was really a lucky night. Going with the winning streak, he was about to raise the stakes one last time, and he realized that he was falling short of chips for his bet. If he was forced to go to the ATM or cashier’s cage to make a cash withdrawal, given the crowd at the casino, the odds of not being able to get back his seat were high. However, luck was still by his side. The casino had recently implemented PlayOn, a new PIN-Debit transaction system that allows patrons to remain engaged and buy chips without having to leave their seats. The player just had to request the handheld device from the dealer, insert his debit card, and follow the on-screen prompts. Upon approval, the POS unit printed a receipt and the dealer received a voucher, which was dropped in the table drop box in exchange for gaming chips. This innovation not only helped the patron enjoy his Christmas at the Casino to the fullest but also allowed the dealers of the Casino to seamlessly carry out the transactions on a heavily-crowded night.

The PlayOn Table PIN Debit solution allows players the convenience of buying chips with no interruption or disruption at the table. For security purposes, the handheld device uses a dual encryption Bluetooth connection with its designated table. With a connectivity range of 20 feet, the device is rendered functionally useless once it is disconnected from the table and has anti-tamper circuitry to comply with PCI requirements for devices with encryption.

Additionally, ACS provides the PlayOn Financial Management System (FMS) to arm the casino with financial management tools that are required for accounting, audit, and reconciliation of all PlayOn transactions. The FMS provides detailed financial reports about all PlayOn gaming transactions in real-time that can be accessed through any standard web browser. “This internal management and accounting systems are easy to implement, and ACS PlayOn provides written internal controls, policies, and procedure manuals for further training and compliance purposes,” says Michael Sackrison, CFO of ACS PlayOn.

Facilitating an average monthly transaction volume of 5 million USD through its integration at 240 casino tables, Warner and Sackrison think that PlayOn is only touching the ‘tip of the iceberg.’ For the months to come, ACS’s vision is to spread its reach to as many casino operators as possible. Also, by identifying more emerging markets, ACS’s roadmap entails expanding its operations in the APAC region along with its current US market. PlayOn is available now throughout Nevada, New Jersey and in most Native American jurisdictions. The company is working with regulators to gain approval for the product in several additional States.
