The company achieves this through a three-solution suite featuring a live-stream CameraSystem, MilkTracker for feeding management, and NICU2Home, an educational and discharge support platform. They can be used individually or together to achieve a more holistic, connected, and efficient NICU care experience.

Founded in 2013, AngelEye acquired and commercialized the technology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences with a mission to support families in the NICU. Led by Justin French, the company first commercialized the original live-stream camera, which is now central to AngelEye's mission of fostering connection and empowering families with newborns in the NICU. It provides secure, HIPAA-compliant, live video streaming, allowing families to check on their baby at any time and stay visually connected even when physically apart. Hospitals also benefit, as the CameraSystem reduces the volume of calls from anxious parents, enabling staff to focus on direct care.

Over the years, AngelEye has expanded its offerings and grown significantly, transforming from a small team of six in 2020 to an organization of over 70, all driven by a commitment to enhancing neonatal care.

AngelEye’s second product, MilkTracker, addresses another critical aspect of infant care — feeding management. Feeding premature or critically ill newborns has up to 260 potential points of failure, from misinterpreted feeding orders to inaccurate preparation of feeding solutions. MilkTracker systematizes the process by ensuring that feeding protocols and recipes are followed precisely. It captures and displays data in real-time, providing transparency for both the clinical team and the family. Parents, specifically mothers pumping milk at home, can use the system to track their inventory and communicate with their care team and lactation consultants to manage their baby’s nutritional care.

NICU2Home completes AngelEye’s product trifecta and focuses on education and discharge preparation, equipping families to transition their babies from the hospital to home. The platform was developed over a decade of research and today offers educational content tailored to each baby's specific needs, leveraging data from the hospital's electronic health record (EHR). The content is created and curated by a large team of neonatologists, healthcare providers, and clinicians, all written at a fifth-grade reading level with translations into over 70 languages. NICU2Home provides significant value propositions for hospital partners, including a reduction in length of stay, fewer readmissions, and improved staff efficiency. The solution also supports families with smoother transitions to life at home and provides resources to manage their child’s care post-discharge.

The Technological Foundation

AngelEye's products integrate seamlessly with EHR systems using data exchange technologies like FHIR and HL7, allowing for communication of real-time updates, such as weight changes and oxygen levels.

Families can access their child’s health data through a user-friendly interface, allowing them to have informed discussions with healthcare providers and make confident care decisions.

Stringent security measures underpin all of AngelEye's operations. The company focuses on continuous improvement and conforms to NIST, SOC2 Type II, and HIPAA standards. AngelEye's policies, procedures, and security standards ensure that hospitals can confidently embrace more scalable, cloud-based solutions and that the NICU staff are supported through regular training.

“We use an abundance of tools for threat monitoring and vulnerability assessment and conduct regular penetration testing and environment scanning to add multiple layers of protection,” says French, CTO at AngelEye.
