Deacom: A Single, Simple ERP System for Process Manufacturers
Process manufacturers are striving to build quality products and maintain cost competitive by keeping up with the rapidly evolving industry trends. Though ERP should not be a core competence of a manufacturing business but they should have a technology that helps enable their growth and ensures that they keep up with trends within the industry. Deacom offers a unified solution, DEACOM Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system that merges all areas of a process manufacturing company—from production and labor tracking to order entry and invoicing. The system also contains support for customer relationship management (CRM), maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) functionality, document management and a warehouse management system (WMS). “DEACOM ERP has streamlined multiple processes by handling all that functionality in one system. We can tighten the process control for a manufacturer so that tasks can be completed swiftly and reliably,” says Deakins.
Deacom’s ERP product has helped several companies enhance their processes to increase their productivity on the shop floor. For instance, American Inks and Coatings, an ink manufacturing company who provides ink and coatings for the packaging industry, required constant assistance from an IT department to maintain a growing IT infrastructure. Employing three customized software systems, the company suffered from frequent communication systems, the company suffered from frequent communication breakdowns between the systems which prevented inventory transactions from being processed correctly.
After installing DEACOM, American Inks and Coatings has greatly simplified its hardware environment and reduced its IT dependence, allowing uninterrupted inventory transactions and improving the visibility to inventory in each department of the business. As a result, the company has been able to focus on its growth and stopped worrying how they were going to scale their IT infrastructure to support their ERP system.

Each time a customer needs a change to the software to support their business; the change is built into the base code so that all customers can take advantage of the new features if it will be beneficial to their business. What is next for Deacom? The company is looking to continue to expand into the tier 1 ERP space to compete with the large ERP vendors. After spending the last six years transitioning their product onto the scalable .Net platform, the Deacom team feels they are uniquely suited to meet the scalability and functional requirements of large process manufacturers.
