The journey of Contractor in Charge goes back to 1989, when Lynn Wise, Founder and CEO of the company, worked for a plumbing and a heating company as a part-owner and general manager. During this period, she witnessed the struggle that the industry was undergoing to hire the right people to perform a specific task. They also lacked the right skills or funds to train appropriate people to execute various business operations effectively. When she left her job after 15 years, she worked in several companies like Yellow Pages and IBM to advance her knowledge of technology and how to implement for the service industry.

At this time, she had an idea of decentralizing operational and financial services for contractors, but she couldn’t bring it to reality because there was a dearth of advanced technologies. However, in 2014, with the help of cloud-based software, she wrote a business case and built a business model, which helped her to hire and assign resources to the clients based-on not where they’re located, but what skills they had. This was the genesis of Contractor in Charge.

Fast forward to 2020, the company is at the forefront of empowering plumbing, HVAC, and other service trades business owners through a complete virtual office solution. Contractor in Charge’s solution is offered in such a way that it can be supplemental to their existing staff, or it can be a complete replacement solution for their staff.
