Dustin Stark

Director-IT, Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma

Since 2004, Dustin has worked for the IT department of the third largest federally-recognized Indian tribe in the United States, the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. With expertise in designing solutions to meet challenging business needs, and key strengths in networking, security and open source applications and systems, Dustin quickly progressed through a number of roles and was named Director of IT in 2007.


Dustin leads the team that completely redesigned the network architecture to become almost 98% virtualized, fostered the adoption of a centralized system to track information of 200,000 tribal members, implemented a comprehensive disaster recovery program to ensure that IT assets remain highly available and worked to improve the organization’s IT security posture. Currently, Dustin and his team are focused on ensuring IT’s service offerings keep pace with rapidly changing business needs and completing the buildout of the Choctaw Nation’s new Tier 4 data center.


As a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Dustin takes pride in leading his team to optimize technology for the purpose of helping the tribe advance their vision “to achieve healthy, successful, productive, and self-sufficient lifestyles for a proud nation of Choctaws.” Dustin has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, a Master of Technology Degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and professional level Cisco certifications. He is also a member for the FCC’s Native American Broadband Taskforce, an Executive Committee member of the Multi-State Information Share & Analysis Center and serves on the board of TribalNet.
