James Williams
CIO, SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory
James Williams serves as SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC)Chief Information Officer and Director of the Computing Division, as well as principle advisor to Director for Business Systems and Information Technology and Laboratory Director for Laboratory Computing Operations, Computing Services, Cyber Security, and Scientific Computing Services.
Prior to working with SLAC, Williams was CIO at NASA Ames Research Center and managed a major overhaul of the center’s computing network, implemented outsourcing strategies for IT services, and oversaw the Cyber Security Operations Center.
Williams holds degrees in Nuclear Engineering (B.S.) and Materials Engineering (M.S.) and authored or co-authored a number of published papers.
