In response to the challenges researchers face in accessing and utilizing supercomputing and high-performance computing (HPC) tools, CR8DL has developed a comprehensive platform that provides streamlined access, rapid scalability, and simplified implementation of AI and machine learning tools tailored to specific research domains. The platform offers AI frameworks, scale up and scale out computing tools, and data analytics software that are complemented by accelerated hardware solutions like their first NVIDIA GPU powered supercomputer named Hydrogen.

CR8DL, an AI and ML infrastructure company, was founded by two tech-savvy brothers with a successful history in entrepreneurship. Recognizing the significant need for HPC infrastructure to support the growing AI, ML, and DL use cases, they identified two significant challenges in the industry—insufficient HPC capacity and the complexity of delivery. These challenges require a level of technical competence that most end-users do not possess. This led to the development of the CR8DL’s browser-based HPC platform which provides users with a flexible and cost-effective way to access high-performance computing resources, allowing them to accelerate their research and development efforts, achieve their business objectives, and gain a competitive edge.

The firm operates a highly capable NVIDIA-powered supercomputer in its data center and is acquiring a second availability zone on the East Coast. Unlike traditional HPC or supercomputer environments that often focus on hardware capabilities, CR8DL prioritizes the user’s perspective, making it easy to conduct their research or exploration with as few as three clicks after logging in to their CR8DL workspace.

The platform’s primary objective is to deliver no-code, use case specific tools, with an initial focus on artificial intelligence, molecular biology, quantum simulation, image processing and financial analytics. Take the example of a prestigious research institution that sought to provide an enhanced practical experience to graduate biochemistry students. While data analysis in biological and biochemical sciences progressed, the institution faced the perennial challenge of limited access to sufficient computing resources. The students extensively used DeepMind’s AlphaFold, an artificial intelligence model that predicts protein structures and is known for its high CPU, GPU, and memory requirements. Since the demand for computing resources exceeded the institution’s hardware capabilities, CR8DL proposed a simple and scalable solution for students to access and gain hands-on experience with AlphaFold. CR8DL configured its resources to support the entire class and provided AlphaFold-specific containers, freeing the students from the technical details of infrastructure and allowing them to focus on research.

Similarly, quantum researchers can access the quantum simulation workspace, which provides access to classical accelerated compute with an adjacent quantum simulator enabling hybrid machine learning. The platform will also offer user-friendly self guided training and documentation as well as expert on-call engineering support available through multiple channels. The platform includes a range of pre-configured AI and machine learning frameworks, including NVIDIA Enterprise AI, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and MXNet, which can help businesses accelerate their development and training processes.

The team at CR8DL has been able to develop tools to accelerate discovery organizations focused on advancing science and technology. They are working with private beta clients and moving closer to general availability this year.
