A typical client engagement for FSC, Inc. starts with a discussion to identify the client’s project needs, expectations, and final deliverables. The company then researches any previous information, surveys, or geological data regarding the particular location and builds a GIS map of the area. The information collected is handed over to the on-site crews, who then conduct route surveys, preliminary site surveys, pipeline surveys, and well location staking for the project. With built-in programs in its GIS system, FSC, Inc. extrapolates the data collected on-field, uploads it to the cloud, and runs it through digital mapping software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or ESRI ArcGIS software suite to render exhibits for the client.

In addition, the programs upload the data onto the client’s master GIS, enabling them to make near-real-time decisions after analyzing everything on-site. As a result, clients get the opportunity to review and finalize the data collected before the company starts preparing well location exhibits, pipeline flags, alignment sheets, as-built surveys, and more. “Our database has all the information to track any detail in case of a failure.

For instance, if a pipeline fails and requires maintenance or reconstruction, we can pull out all details, such as who built the pipe, what day the pipe was put into the ground, and more,” adds Loessin.
