In the world of business, the term ‘contract management’ isn’t just a buzzword anymore. Introduced to help organizations handle their multiple payer contracts and terms seamlessly, when utilized properly, contract management now has the potential to become an issue of strategic importance for every organization, including healthcare enterprises. However, despite its many positives, there exist firms that are yet to realize the benefits of appropriate contract management and thereby end up losing on a trove of opportunities related to revenue generation and cash flow. Having identified this gap in the industry, HEI Global Health pivoted towards helping healthcare organizations enhance their contract management capabilities and meet compliance requirements easily. The company’s effective solution assists clients irrespective of their operational locations with tracking and managing changes to payer terms and fee schedules.

In a landscape where most ECM solutions do not come into the picture until the insurance claims are filed, HEI Global Health begins streamlining contracts right from the moment a patient is scheduled. The company’s robust solution uses a token-based rules engine to give a real-time overview of patients’ situations and streamlines the processes instantaneously, a striking differentiator that gives HEI Global Health an edge over its competitors.

At heart, the uniqueness of HEI Global Health stems from its capability to handle contracts pertaining to any geographical location. “We are flexible enough to work with any payer or under any governmental regulations irrespective of the region they belong,” says Aaron Habben, Founder and CEO, HEI Global Health. Apart from the US, the company is also moving the needle in the European and Middle East markets with an aim to expand beyond those boundaries.

From a user perspective, HEI Global Health solution does not rely on interfaces. Hence, instead of installing a separate system, the software can easily be embedded into the existing EHR vendor systems. It can navigate through different databases and create functionalities to obtain elements from the EHR system to create a context for rule establishment. Once configured, the data elements or tokens are further used for adjusting contract management rules when necessary for enhanced benefits.

A question that arises here: what led to the inception of the company’s innovation contract management platform?

HEI Global Health made its humble beginnings almost 16 years ago as a consulting firm. Over the years, it witnessed the lack of flexibility within payer/governmental policies dwelling in the healthcare landscape. To plug those existing gaps, the company developed its out-of-the-box contract management software. “Instead of needing to involve a third-party vendor to gain insights about regulations and payers in certain regions around the world, we developed it ourselves from the ground-up,” adds Jacy Conley, President, HEI Global Health.

Being able to easily integrate its contract management application across longitudes, HEI Global Health has emerged to be an international player.

Why Companies Use SWOT AnalysisRoger K. Smith, Chief Operations and Development Officer
With a detailed understanding of how contracts work in different geographical locales, the company can easily align its operations based on the requirements. From netting down the contractual pieces at any point during the patient journey to cementing the functional loopholes, HEI Global Health is able to address any demand of customers from any point of the globe. “Our software is available as both a full-end platform and an à la carte solution depending on the purpose of clients,” states Roger Smith, the Chief Operations and Development Officer of the company.

We are flexible enough to work with any payer or under any governmental regulations irrespective of the region they belong

In essence, HEI Global Health utilizes its state-of-the-art Configuration Portal as a build-tool to configure payer contracts, terms, rules, and fee schedules. This gives end-users and IT management teams the ability to build certain payer rules/contract terms for modulating impact pricing, insurances, adjustment rates, future contracts, and more. These contracts/rules are then flexibly added into HEI’s rules engine to run the process and handle claims as per system needs. Additionally, the Missouri based firm even gives clients access to its proprietary configuration portal and allows them to update/modulate contracts and add rules when required.

HEI Global Health has squared several impossible circles using its robust software across the board. In one instance, the company partnered with a leading hospital to streamline their revenue cycles that had been dormant for many years due to the inefficacy of the existing EHR systems. Incorporating its solution, it successfully augmented their ROI and helped them meet the stringent regional and governmental regulations.

Today, as the revenue cycle software optimizes the productivity of clients from disparate zones, Mr. Habben anticipates that the coming months will see a sharp spike in its demand worldwide. This, in turn, will compel clients to deal with government insurance frequently, thereby triggering the need for a software platform that can simplify complex billing procedures. With innovation at its core, HEI Global Health finds itself in a sweet spot to become the preferred choice for customers. “Very soon, the hybrid model structure combining government payer and insurance commercial aspects will become the norm for patients to optimize health insurance benefits. This will push focus on the international market and thereby open opportunities for us,” concludes a confident Mr. Habben.
