How Salesforce could have saved the biggest meeting of my life

Jonathan Luna/ Caribbean Territory Manager at Xentric360

I had 32 minutes to get to the meeting.

The drive to get there takes 45 minutes on a good day. I had worked for weeks to get this meeting with the top executives at the insurance agency I needed to work with.

This was the biggest client I had ever pitched to. At this point, my business was hinged on the outcome of this meeting. My friend was already there, sending me frantic messages. ‘Where are you? They’re already in the boardroom!’

I glanced at my watch. 29 minutes to get there before everything I worked for over the past 7 weeks would be flushed down the drain. I could feel my stomach tightening and my heart pounding.

I turned the keys one more time in the ignition.

The car refused to start.

“Good morning, my name is Adrian. What is your location sir?”

I told him where I was and went through all the standard verification questions, basically hyperventilating at this point.

The man on the phone was going through a standard routine of asking my details so he could assess my situation and send a wrecker. I figured if they could carry my car home and I grab a taxi, I could at least make it to the presentation with a great story to tell.

”Alright, I’m dispatching a wrecker to you now. Please give me a minute to double check some things and I’ll be right back with you,” he said. Then he put me on hold.

It was here that I had hope.

It was also here where the real chaos began.

Adrian came back on the phone. “Please tell me your name and your location sir, we’re ready to help.”

”You cannot be serious. I just gave you all of my information!”

A moment of silence.

”Sir, we’re doing some training. I’m new here and I’ve had a really hard morning,” he said.

”YOU are having a really hard morning?”

When people talk about humans and technology like Salesforce, they tend to focus on the technology and all its technical benefits. What’s lost is how that technology impacts us on a daily basis.

If Adrian had Salesforce with correct data in it, he would have access to my records to know the kind of car I had, the age of the car, my home address and my profession. His hard morning would have been much less difficult because he would have had a bird’s eye view of my information.

β€‹In high-stakes moments, the right technology doesn’t just improve efficiency—it transforms experiences. Salesforce bridges the gap between data and action, ensuring that every interaction is seamless, personalized, and impactful

The conversation would have been much different and much faster. I would have felt comforted because he could have come on the phone after seeing my registered phone number and said, “Good morning Jonathan, how can we help you today?”

I’d have told him my situation and he’d say “Alright, since you drive a Toyota, I’ll contact a mechanic who specializes in Toyota engines so he can see about the car while you’re at your meeting. Since you’re in sales, I’m sure you’ll need your car back asap to get to your meetings, so we’ll put a rush on the repairs. Would you like me to arrange a taxi for you to get back home to 5th Street after your presentation this morning?”

At that point, I’d have given him all the money in my bank account to make those things happen.

The technology that powers a conversation like that can be found in Salesforce Data Cloud.

The next layer to that is Salesforce’s newest addition called AgentForce.

Go back and read Adrian’s ideal response that I wrote above. Now imagine that Adrian is an AI, not a real human.

That’s the power of AgentForce. Real time conversations. Real time data. Real time actions that bring solutions to problems. Solutions that are available 24/7 via chat and voice interfaces. The lines between human and technology interactions are being blurred in the best way possible.

Because of Adrian’s misstep, I lost precious minutes again as he had to redo the entire process and make sure the wrecker went to the correct location.

I didn’t make it to the meeting, but thankfully the executives were very understanding of the situation.

Remember it was an insurance company I was pitching to. Adrian worked at the same insurance company.

I now had direct insight into where the company needed to do better, and I used this experience to help them improve.

They implemented Salesforce and focused on developing training for their human agents. They then used scenarios from that human training to develop their AI agents.

Then we went a step further. What happens after a day like this one? After the car is towed back home and the events are over? They used Salesforce Marketing Cloud to set up a system to follow through and connect with customers after their experiences. It started with a simple survey, tailored using AI in real time to the person’s unique details. From there, they would build on those responses and develop upsells that were personalized to each person. If my scenario were worse, think of a tailored package that would not only help get my car towed and serviced, but would include someone to communicate with my loved ones on my behalf to let them know the situation I was in.

Imagine the possibilities.

Take this experience with an insurance company and apply it to legal, medical and construction scenarios. Think of the stress and the pressure that can be mitigated in high stakes interactions as people feel like they are heard, listened to and understood. Think of your industry and how relationships are formed and nurtured.

That’s what this technology is all about.
