Can you briefly describe the professional journey that brought you to your current position at Apuesta Total?

I have undertaken many roles ranging from system analyst to director of information technology. Over the years, I have held various responsibilities like streamlining processes, leading negotiations for cost savings, and optimizing areas such as accounting and accounts receivable. These experiences have been instrumental in helping me lead, manage, and implement IT infrastructure for many large-scale projects. My pursuit of creating innovative solutions has helped me collaborate with my team to develop an interactive voice response orchestrator and WhatsApp integration. By handling various roles in the field, I was able to achieve my ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification, as well as the ITIL Foundations International certificate.

What are some of the leading challenges prevailing in the IT industry today?

One of the significant challenges in the industry is handling large volumes of data, especially when it comes to the gaming and betting industry, where millions of transactions have to be dealt with every day.

Using cloud computing, data lakes, and data warehouses, with proper integrations and data governance, is an efficient way to manage and benefit from large amounts of data.

What are some of the latest technological trends that are emerging in the industry today?

Artificial intelligence plays a pivotal role in handling extensive transactional activities and helps serve clients from our digital channel. Developing and maintaining platforms with active replications can help handle traffic. Additionally, implementing good cybersecurity measures and following ISO 27001 standards can protect the company's data.

Can you share details on an ongoing project you are currently involved in?

Peru is set to implement a new law for the gaming and betting industry, one which will require all organizations with a betting site to unify their different digital channels to a single platform. Currently, we have three different channels; a digital channel for clients who use the web, a retail channel for those who go to the stores, and a teleservice channel for people who need access to our platform from social media platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram. This project is complex and crucial as it will redefine the way we manage all our client info and the data we gather to ensure compliance with the changing legal landscape.

What advice would you give to your fellow peers in the industry?

It's essential to stay updated about the emerging trends and tools in the IT industry. Surround yourself with people smarter than you. This enriches the team and fosters growth. Keeping up with trends like data advancements, artificial intelligence, and cloud technology is important. Teamwork and collaboration will always pay off and will help you tackle challenges in the ever-evolving tech landscape.
