Nueva Pescanova Group

Therefore, the current context of hyper connectivity is something we have already learned to live with, and we are not even worried that this hyper connectivity means breaking certain barriers to our privacy, such as being able to have a device on our wrist that tells us where we are at every moment. However, due to its current maturity, the IoT is not only being applied to connect consumer goods, control production plants and their processes, but we are already seeing beneficial applications in health, logistics and security. That is why Nueva Pescanova saw a few years ago that there was another essential sector where IoT could be beneficial. The sustainability of our seas and aquaculture environments. This is the brief history of how Nueva Pescanova is becoming a global benchmark that unites technology and sustainability using IoT as, I always say, technology quite often works.

Nueva Pescanova is a world leading seafood company present in more than 19 countries and with more than 10,000 employees. Not only do we fish and process, selling under our world-renowned brand, but we also carry out sustainable aquaculture farms in numerous countries around the world. Our business strategy states that sustainability is the company's only strategy, and this has led us to long-standing commitment to the use of IoT technologies in our extensive and sustainable Shrimp Vannamei farms in Latin American countries such as Ecuador, Nicaragua and Guatemala as well as in Spain. The IoT is at our service to guarantee the sustainability of the environment in which our species live, controlling at all times the quality of the water, animal welfare and the environment, thereby reducing the human impact of the daily tasks within the management of Vannamei's farms.

At Nueva Pescanova, we believe that the Internet of Things is the ideal technology to break down barriers as complex as the lack of connectivity in remote places and protected natural areas, as well as the use of energy efficient technologies.

The IoT is at our service to guarantee the sustainability of the environment in which our species live, controlling at all times the quality of the water, animal welfare and the environment.

The challenge of having thousands of sensors, automatic systems, controllers or meters deployed in several countries has been an engineering challenge. We have opted for the use of different wireless and sensor technologies to guarantee the reliability and redundancy of our systems. Within our roadmap, it is worth highlighting the global alliance with Microsoft as IoT cloud expert and IBM's leadership in traceability, which help us to extract all the knowledge that IoT devices are currently generating.

Nueva Pescanova is a multicultural company present in four continents and this reflects our ecosystem of IoT partners from India or Australia to some European countries as well-known IoT companies such as Sigfox.

“The IoT is at our service to guarantee the sustainability of the environment in which our species live, controlling at all times the quality of the water, animal welfare and the environment”

Finally, I would like to tell our readers that Nueva Pescanova is undoubtedly an example of how IoT and the technologies associated with Industry 4.0 can be applied in natural and remote environments in order to ensure the sustainability of our aquaculture areas and our seas and therefore protect our species. This is a very long story with a lot of episodes to tell, but at the end, where the IoT find a sustainable application helping us to make better our world.
