The system automates the collection of content into the translation workflow and presents the content back into SharePoint in 15-20 languages. “This way, we have content stored in SharePoint in a multilingual format, to be shared internally to employees or partners, or even publish to external audiences,” explains Vandenberg.

There is a disparate collection of content across software applications, office documents, and websites that need to be multilingual. It is critical for the organization to automate its management.

For instance, for a company that natively offers content in English, it is of utmost importance to ensure that any change made is reflected in different languages that the company supports. “The problem is to collect that content and go through the translation process manually,” says Vandenberg. In order to solve this issue, Lingotek’s, cloud-based translation model enables not only a transactional project but also a continuous translation, across all content type, helping the enterprises in a global marketing effort. The company’s translation management system is a product that seamlessly pulls in content and prepares it for translation by removing all non-transferable elements. It relies on content to be received via Lingotek inside connectors, thereby creating a project. Next, the project management system manages the work flow, the glossaries, and the language to which content requires translation. The project and workflow is initiated, and a combination of humans and machines are presented into the translation process.

These are bilingual people around the world who go into the product and translate the content via a translation work bench, which presents the content on a sentence-by-sentence basis. The original language is called the source language and the language of translation is called the target language. For one source language, there might be 10 target languages. The company’s system leverages all the machine interaction, where the process is completed and pushed back into a product like SharePoint.
