In the information age, a team working on the same project might be in completely different locations, making it challenging to communicate workflows and assignments. To keep everyone on the same page, Lucid Software introduced Lucidchart, a premier diagramming tool on the web. “Lucidchart’s collaboration is smooth, easy to use, and simple to manage,” said Karl Sun, CEO and Co-Founder of Lucid Software. “Lucidchart provides a slick solution to the age-old problem of visual communication.”

With Lucidchart, IT and engineering professionals can design network infrastructure and database schemas together, while product managers and designers mock-up apps and their accompanying user flows. It has enabled millions of people to collaborate on complex ideas through flowcharts, mind maps, network diagrams, and many other types of diagrams.

Serving more than ten million users in the Google Apps ecosystem, Lucidchart’s integration with Google Drive lets employees create, edit, and share diagrams directly from the familiar Google Drive interface. Google users can also insert diagrams right into their Docs, as well as video chat via Hangouts directly in the Lucidchart editor.

“To assist CIOs, we’ve implemented many administrative and security options which organizations can use to make sure they have full visibility and oversight into how the app is being used,” said Sun. This was done in order to address the apprehensions of CIOs over cloud-based software and has contributed to Lucidchart’s popularity among large organizations.

Pearson, a leading provider of business and educational solutions, adopted Lucidchart and introduced it into their app directory. Graham Calder, CTO of Technology Operations at Pearson said, “The initial momentum behind Lucidchart actually came from the user community. We worked with Lucidchart, and brought it into the environment.” Pearson used the flexibility of Lucid technology to provide a domain-wide platform for collaboration. Pearson’s employees now support larger goals by using Lucidchart to create, share, and publish important charts.

Another area Lucid Software wanted to simplify was the process of working together with colleagues to produce the best sales and marketing collateral. To achieve this, Lucid Software has recently introduced Lucidpress. In the words of Sun, this program enables everyone to be a designer. “In the past, it has been difficult for small business owners and employees to create the materials they need to engage their customers: flyers, brochures, newsletters, digital magazines, and the like. With a very intuitive drag-and-drop interface and many templates to choose from, these small business owners can now quickly and easily create beautiful and compelling print and digital documents.”

In the near future, Sun hopes to continue to deliver high-impact solutions that are incredibly instinctive for end users. “The graphical app arena is highly competitive. We keep pace by listening to our users and developing features that they ask for,” said Sun. This is a core part of Lucid Software’s philosophy—making it easier and faster to communicate visually. There are plans to continue providing executives and IT administrators the control they need to easily roll out Lucidchart and Lucidpress across their companies. “We understand that by providing Lucidchart and Lucidpress to so many users, we are attempting to disrupt two significant incumbents: Microsoft Visio and Adobe InDesign, respectively,” said Sun. “Nonetheless, we are confident and excited about our goal to deliver a fantastic product experience and help millions of people create, collaborate, and think visually.”
